More than just 4 or 5 auto save games ?

So you want an auto save after each turn?

Need to change the file...
Conquests.ini which is found in:
C:/program files/infogrames interactive/civilizationIII/conquests
To change the number of autosave turns change:
Max Autosaves=5 to....
Max Autosaves=99 (or whatever number you want).

I once tried to change this settings, the conquest.ini file reads:
Maxautosaves=1000
Apperently this doesn't work.
So now I have changed this to
Max AutoSaves=99
Exactly like that.
I haven't tried it yet... hopefully it works next time I play civ 3 conquest

Ok, Today I just played a pretty cool/good game of Civ3 and while reloading I noticed many, many, many auto saves =D ! So it's working !

(It makes it a bit harder to find the most recent game though... because the way things get sorted when many save games exists because of diffirent years like 370 AD, 37 AD, 37 BC, 370 BC, etc... )
Hmmm I can see that at 250 AD the saves games are every 10 years.
So 250 AD, 260 AD etc.
Before that they are every 20 years.
Let's assume that the save games happen each 20 years during BC (in reality it's 30 years or so... anyway that gives:
4000 BC / 20 = 200 save games
Let's assume save games are made eveyr 10 years for AD so that's:
3000 AD / 10 = 300 save games
Maybe the save year interval etc will change when it gets around 1000 AD or so... so I'll add another 500 save games just in case...
So 1000 save games should be enough for the largest games !
That's about 136 MBx10 = 1.36 GB in total for save games... cool
