civ-series

Fallout 1&2..and so many more.

HMM3 didn't really grab me.....I played it but not constantly. Actually I have another Sid game I used to play like crazy, Sword Of The Samurai...man was that fun.

Civilization (all versions)
Maffia
Hidden and dangerous (Multiplayer)
Commandos 1 & 2
Sim City (all versions)
Pirates of the caribbean (good game even though in the shadow of the movie)
Red alert: Tiberian sun
Gangsters 1 (2nd sucks)

When I was young;

King quest IV (with Rosella and the seven dwarfs)
Larry (the dirty one)

M.U.L.E. (I found an NES cartridge of it at a flea market, and then actually went to the local EB games to buy a used NES to play it on)

Bard's Tale Series

Pharoah/Cleopatra (Impressions)

Civilization Series

Children of the Nile

for me, what dictates whether I become addicted to a game is usually taking an idea in a gaming that is relatively new, and make it wildly successful. So to me, a lot of the classics were rediculously addictive:

civ [all of them], doom [to a lessor extent duke nukem 3d, unreal, unreal tournament, and quake, and the original rainbow 6], tetris, bust a move [had to list this one by itself because it comprised most of my life from the age of 13->16], dune 2, warcraft 2, command and conquer, c & c red alert, mortal kombat 1-3, street fighter 2, killer instinct, nba jam, mario bros 1->mario world, grand theft auto [all of them] and diablo.

heh, as a gamer, I was all over the map.

Man great games mentioned.....I have to agree on Duke Nukem, and Rainbow Six. Panzer General was extremely cool the first few weeks I played. And how the heck did I miss MULE! Heck, truth be told Summer Games on the C64 was playing constantly for months.

Enchanter series by Infocom

  3. Rise of Nations
  4. Steel Panthers (World at War)
  5. Unreal Tournament

Civilization III
Knights of Honor
Dungeon seige 2
WOW - at least till they added so much to it my computer started hanging.
the original Doom.

also add Galactic Civilizations II - had to stop playing it so I could catch up my homework
even Civ III didnt do that to me.

1. Panzer General

2. Medieval Total War

Most memorable and addictive games...

Manic Miner, Sabre Wolf, Lords of Midnight - Sinclair Spectrum

Good call on Pools of Radiance on the C64.....I loved that game. Another one I played all the way through and really loved was Wizard's Crown on the C64.

Hmm had to think long and hard on this (I'm old too)...

Wizardry / Knight of Diamonds
Ultima III / IV
Elite
Auto Duel
Railroad Tycoon
Civilization
Diablo / Diablo II
Ultima Online
Civilization III
Everquest
World of Warcraft

Those are listed in chronological order from what I remember anyway... Note although I played Civilization II, for some odd reason I didn't like it as much as the others.

Also, on the console systems I must tip the hat to Shigeru Miyamoto on:
Super Mario World
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Super Metroid <--- Best Metroid ever!!
Super Mario 64
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Anyone ever play "Pefect General"
Had it on the Amiga and it was a great strategy game. Think they have perfect general 2 for pc..
