Which aspect of Civ II do you think is the most enjoyable. and be specific, dont just say "war." Mine would have to be amphibious invasion and/or modern naval battles, theyre just so cool with their combined use of land, air, and sea units.

I really enjoy the ancient age the best... clearing away all that ugly black fog and replacing it with the pretty colours of my borders sure beats cleaning up pollution in the modern age. :)

Yeah, I remember one time I was fighting 3 superiors opponents at once-
1. Babylon who were across a narrow channel from me, we blasted each other to pieces with air units (about 5 were dying on each side every turn)
2. India who were actually on my continent who attacked me with a HUGE army, I fought them using my Railroads to constantly ferry Mech Infanry etc. to the fight, so I pushed them back easily, since there plan involved annhilating me before I could bring up reinforcements.
3. England- a HUGE country with bases all over the place- I attacked in about ten places at once with a deadly amphibious attack- 20 cities mine in 4 turns!

Since I was effectively only using my normal forces- my navy against England, my army VS India and my Air force VS Babylon, it was basically the same as fighting one war against an opponwnt with all three. So I won. :D

Best part: Trading. And then especially working your way around getting 2fer1 or 3fer1. Especially if you have to do tricks to get it (like selling your only Iron-resource, renegotiated peace-treaties etc.)
I really feel "a master" if all that detailling and negotiating gets me what I want and at the best prices.

The cultural borders. In earlier Civs, I'd have to make lines of armies to stop enemy settlers from planting in the middle of my beginning empire... cultural borders have improved the game tenfold.

the resources, i really like the idea and it changed the game basically from Civ 2

Mine would be replayability in the sense that the game can remain fairly detailed without completely following historical progress...

I would say customiability is the best aspect of the game.

I enjoy most the early game- exploring, starting cities, and finding new
civs :D . Secondly I like the different types of war making in the different
eras  .

I like Modern Era wars now. With so many different tactics available, everything gets all stirred up and fun!

I like the discovering of new techs before any one else and the pride of great wonder building, but the weapons of the modern age are cool too.

I like the possibility of playing and never ever getting tired of it. A game can go on for months and still be exciting all along - and the next game will be completely different. I thought at first that another add-on (Conquests) would be too much, but NOOOO... I love that.

And I like the sounds the units make.

Everything in the game is the most enjoyable aspect except for the pollution cleaning-up!

The most enjoyable aspect for me is creating my first Army with 3 top of the line mounted units and going on a rampage. Taking so many cities I can barely keep them fortified.

3 Cavalry Army when the best defensive unit is musketmen, yeah baby!

mine would have to be strategic wars. i.e. starting a war because you need a resource etc.

I like the expansion. Starting out, exploring, finding new land and other civs... then finding new resources and luxuries. Then exploring the seas and finding hidden islands (which are far too rare IMO). And finally fighting over the known world to claim those lands and resources that help make your civ the most powerful of them all.

So in a word, most of it :D

I agree with two previous posters. The need to fight over resources adds a nice spice to the game, I think Conquests got it right by reducing the number of overall resources on a random map. And the cultural borders are likely the single best thing I like about Civ3 over Civ2.
