If you ever want to play the best Russia map ever that the game generates by itself (no cheats or editing), here it is:

you get:
- tundra natural wonder Eyjafjallajökull in capital range (+ 2 food + 1 culture per adjeacent tile, stacked!) -> first worked tile: 5 food, 2 prod, 2 cult, 1 faith + inspiration for astrology to get your special holy sites (lavras) out quickly
- possibilty to settle capital on tundra hills in turn 3 (spot indicated in screenshot below) -> 2 food, 2 prod, 1 faith in capital
- almost guaranteed pantheon "dance of the aurora" (+ 1 faith from adjacent tundra for holy sites aka lavras), giving you multiple 6+ faith lavras, forests/mountains stack with tundra...
- spices in range
- iron in capital range
- at least 4 more great tundra settlement positions, incl. coastal with hills and forests as well as sea resources -> tons of production and food
- tons of tribal villages in tundra, out of reach of other civs on continent
- great city states nearby that you will most likely meet first, even on deity (commercial + military)

Watch out for barbs! First build should be a slinger.

Map size is: standard
type: continents
all other settings: standard

Game seed: -650125781
Map seed: -650125780
NOTE the minus before the numbers.

Are there any continents large enough to have a 60 tile land trade route?

Not sure I'd go over to the tundra tile to settle. Would probably just go down right and settle on the plains hill. With the Russia territory bonus you can work the 5f tile right away, meaning this city is growing very fast at the start. And with most of the tundra tiles being hills already, yeah, that's a strong city.

Looks like a really strong start, but don't know if you could classify it as the "most insane" since you have no chop-able tiles in your first ring and only two in your second. Still all that early food is very very nice as Russia since it will allow you to work those food poor tundra mines.

I can't replicate this map generation. Is there a possible "rookie" mistake from my part or can this be altered because I use mods?

Not using any mods, besides the user interface mod CQUI. But that should not alter the map. You can get it here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1125169247
Did you use a minus sign before the seed numbers and set the map to continents?

EDIT: I can post a savegame if you have continued issues replicating it.

I picked the tundra tile, because it gives me 1 extra faith and 2 food, 2 prod like the plains hill

There are two more woods tiles to the East after moving on top of the tundra spot. But you are right, there could be more woods.

I realised I had mods adding natural wonders, it worked after I disabled them. :hammer2: I think that start looks like great fun when playing as Russia!

this one was pretty good too

Here's what i was able to make of it by end game:
Spoiler :

Also, that island between the two continents has zanzibar and torres del paine with plenty of space. Accessible by coast, i just didn't check until mid game.

Tried to do a nice culture victory, but runaway on the other continent just wouldn't budge in time despite tons of tourism (hence all the nukes queued. Russian foreign policy is very nuanced ) Went with dance of the aurora, duh, and feed the world to generate some extra food for the early tundra cities. Almost every city had a theatre and most of those had full museums. Wow!

Thanks to Mother Russia + St Basil's + Ruhr + Magnus in the capital, I was pulling a fabulous 360 production excluding trade routes. Obviously, I also went communism and exploited the late game dark age to sneak in robber barons and Amundsen-Scott's bonus. (+55% - if only I'd taken work ethic!).

This would also have been a crazy good continent for the dutch with the lakes and rivers. This map was great!

You made more of it than I could :)
Scotland snatched Ruhr from me, but he declared on me soon after, so I took his cities over on the other continent. By that time I had my a huge military presence over there and I just went for domination in the early modern era. I could have won science, but clicking through dozens of turns would have taken several hours.
