Lets see if this topic generates any interest.

Taken with a grain of salt because I know the AI is still very slipshod in this game...

Which Civs do you like to find on the map in a game because they will be good allies?

Conversely which Civs do you loathe because you know they will give you a hard time based on your playstyle?

LOVE:
Catherine De'Medici- I don't think I've had a single game where we weren't BFFs from start to finish (okay, the one time I went around conquering people as Rome she knifed me, but I was already prepping to knife her, so props for doing it first. We good, we good) Her agenda is extremely easy to satisfy, and she usually doesn't do anything to upset me either (have yet to be forward settled by France).
Victoria - Either she's a free friend, or if she's my enemy, she's so far away from my capital it doesn't even matter (and her settling style is a disaster which leaves her weak and vulnerable. They should really program Victoria to hold off on expanding till Renaissance then forcefully expand via domination, unless she is right by a continental border). I also find her extremely entertaining
Gorgo - Fun agenda and keeps the game interesting, though she's rarely fond of me. I don't start QUITE enough wars to satisfy her
Philip - Usually we don't have conflicts (unless I'm playing a religious game, but in that case he's appreciated competition), and sometimes we get along

On the HATE end, oh boy:
Mvemba a Nzinga - Dude, I just founded a religion. Give me more than like one turn to spread it. Also, stop stealing my Great People! :wallbash: It's not even difficult, just irritating
Pedro - See above. Though I actually have more difficulty with Mvemba snatching them.
Qin Shi Huang - It would be one thing if I was actually trying to compete with you for wonders and snatching them all up... but I built one. ONE. And you denounce me. Dude, learn to use your builders for wonders instead of flooding every tile with the Great Wall. He's more or less the equivalent of Civ V Eizabeth, whiny, annoying, and woefully incompetent. Only thing he misses is her ability of getting routinely wiped out by his AI neighbors
Arabia - Mamluck + Mega-Science + Missionary Spam + Denounces anyone not following his religion. I will 100% go out of my way to wipe him out in ancient era if I spawn next to this guy, I have never had better than horrible relations. On the plus side, he does tend to be challenging. Would just like a game where we're not arch-enemies

I hate Kongo with a passion. Absolutely loathe him.

His ridiculous obsession puts him in modern era in 1200s, he constantly beats me to cultural wonders, and as you said with the religion.

In my current game as France, he has beat me to 6 wonders in a row, missed by 1-5 turns each. So irritating.

I love Japan usually. After defeating his initial ancient era horde, we almost always remain staunch allies until the end of the game. I always have good science and culture, and well developed land. He is constantly complimenting me.

Don't mind Arabia either. I never bother with religion outside of a pantheon, so never get any abuse from him about that. Plus he tends to pick good religious buildings etc, so whenever I build any he loves me for it.

Norway for whatever reasons always seems to love me as well. Even though I tend to build a total of 0 boats throughout the whole game.

I'm 90% sure Saladin abuses you even if another Civ spreads their religion to you. Making him like you is also irritating, since I have to start building holy sites despite not playing a religious game and having literally every other district to build. And forgot about Norway, yeah. Half the time just building a naval site alone is enough to satisfy this guy's agenda.

Frederick Barbarossa and Pericles depend on when/where I meet them. Usually Frederick loves me early game, which can result in a long lasting friendship even when I start violating his agenda, but if I meet him anywhere past early game he'll hate me cause agenda. Pericles depends on whether or not he and I are near the city states (envoys from completing city state quests also upset the guy)

Huh, I never noticed that. Very few people actually manage to convert my cities though. With no religion, everyone looks on me as a free civ to concert towards victory, so mid-game every single civ has an army of religious units in my land. They're all so busy with their wizard warfare none of them actually get around to converting.

Love

Cleo - I'm mesmerized by the language. Fun to look at too.

Gorgo - Well she's not Lena Headey from 300 but I'll take it. Love a strong woman.

Hate - I'm American and I love my country. But Teddy drives me absolutely bonkers in my games. I gotta blow him off the map in every single game I've played so far. About 10 games or so that's been the case. In one immortal game continents he spammed 10 apostles from across the ocean. I had no religion and the others on my continent were asleep at the wheel. So I murdered all his apostles. He never wanted peace after that and my war wariness went nuts for a 1000 years. I had to mow through endless units on the seas and when I finally found his lands he sued for peace. To me that was interesting because he wanted no peace until I knew where he was. I ended up winning that game just barely edging out Catherine in science. So yeah die Teddy die, no religious vic for u.

LOVE
--------

America - Teddy always seems ready to be friends. Bully for him!
Sumeria - Don't let the war-carts fool you! deep-down he's a big softie. Makes a great ally.
Victoria (If we share a continent) - I always feel the urge to put the pot on and get some biscuits when I meet her.
Russia - Oh, Peter... yes, I am better than you.

HATE
--------

Egypt - Shut up already, cleo.
Arabia - Yes, I know... you hate me and yet you still pay top dollar for my pork. Oh, Saladin!
Aztec - Monty... you're a greedy little...
France - Cathy... Cathy... I know exactly what you're up to, you jive turkey.

Couldn't agree more on Kongo. I found a religion and literally on the next turn (and on "Epic") the guy complains about my "lack of conviction". Just silly.

Arabia became surprisingly docile in some of my games. Last time I had him, the poor guy was wedged in between my holy city/capital and the sea with no place to go. He initially hated me for religious reasons but he never sent a single missionary/apostle over to me and after a while didn't seem to mind the fact that his holy city got auto-converted by my capital.

Of course: In other games he was a complete prick towards me, so ...

Basically, I hate every leader who has agendas that are unavoidable to "violate". Like Vicky hating me based on my geographical location. Or Monty's "you have what I don't have"-agenda. Or China/Brazil who seem to not just hate you for having more GP/wonders than they have but will sometimes hate you if you dare to pick up a single GP/wonder. What am I supposed to do? Suck at my game on purpose just to please you guys?

Or the "barb-hunter"-agenda ("civilized"?) that doesn't seem to work properly. In one of my recent games I had no barb camps anywhere near me, so I couldn't hunt them. There weren't any barb units running around near my borders, either. Yet Japan (who had that agenda in this game) was constantly giving me grief for "letting barbarians roam freely in my lands".

There are very few AIs I can get along with. I like building wonders, I like acquiring great people, and I like fighting wars. So that rules out a bunch of AIs from the get go. Qin is particularly annoying. I build one wonder over the course of an entire game and that's enough to trigger his agenda hate? Really? There are like 20 wonders in this game, dude. He's got to chill out about it. And of course you won't get Qin's agenda approval unless he has more wonders than you--something that's not within your control, since he might just not build any.

Peter and Trajan aren't so bad, since their agendas fit relatively well with my playstyle. On the other hand, on Deity both of these leaders are basically guaranteed to denounce me on Turn 30 or so, because I'm certainly going to rank last in science, culture, and expansion. But by the mid-to-late game I may be able to turn them into friends. It helps if they're on another continent so I don't have to meet them right away.

Saladin and Mvemba tend to be fine by me, since I usually don't found religions. So if I happen to get lucky with a hidden agenda, then I've got a friend pretty easily.

I also hate Kongo. But equally frustrating is Monty. Literally the moment I build a plantation over tea (or whatever) he messages me that if it is my wish to be burned, or something like that. In both cases, they should offer you some time to accomplish something to satisfy their agendas.
I love Pericles. Never is my enemy, although I don't fit his agenda. Maybe I am always lucky with his secundary agenda which balances that.

Love:

Catherine de Medici - more or less easy to get along with and I like hearing her chitchat.

Neutral:

Victoria - amusing rather than annoying with her "I'm such a serious woman" and then throwing her little brat fits when angry etc. While I'm usually "threading on dangerous waters", all she does is entertain me with her little fits.
Teddy - not that hard to befriend if on the same continent and not that demanding altogether even if not. Though his whining about earth is annoying. I chop everything I can.
Hojo - managed to not annoy me at all so far, but also nothing to say much about.

Hate:

Everyone else.

Extra hate:

Mabanga Mamba - kill on sight.
Saladdin - kill on sight.
Cleopatra - the only thing stopping the "kill on sight" procedure is her managing to always spawn too far to bother with.
Pedro - kill and torture on sight. In that order.

I hate all city states. When creating a game I want a button that says: 'NO city states'.

First I want to say awesome thread.

The leader that I'm ok with:

Scythia: for some reason we have rarely been at conflict and last night we ended up being allies.
Greece/Gorgo: she's just my kind of girl/leader.

Leaders that absolutly infuriate me:

Gilgamesh.. Never had I had a good relationsship with this guy he always declares war on me
Teddy.. Same story most of the time.. Nice at the very beginning and "bully for you" into "I wanted to avoid this"
The aztecs, always mad and annoying
Arabia.. I have made it a personal crusade to wipe him of the planet if he is close to me at the very beginning.
China.. because reasons..
Vicky... Really ? being nice into declaring wars you ALWAYS lose.

My personal agenda is really easy to play around

Stay of my lands: Forward settling is a clear declaration of war or in worst case scenario complete annihilation.
Stop converting my cities: Unless your ok with going to war.

Besides that they can do whatever they want but leave me alone or face the consequences.

That's funny.. That's my agenda too. Now if we could only let the computer player know this. Maybe they wouldn't charge into their destruction.

I actually don't mind Montezuma. I mean, he's pretty impossible to please, but I think that at least fits well with his focus on warmongering and guarantees he'll declare some wars to liven the game up some. I just wish he was better at said warring.

I am the same way. If you do a search for it you can find a way to take them out of the game. It's a quick modification to one of the files. I played 3 or 4 games with them on and decided they do nothing for the game. But to be fair I did the same thing in Civ 5. Basically they made it easier to advance so I dumped them. The tech advances already seem to fly by too fast at all game speeds. Marathon starts slow but even it it too fast for me later. If only I could figure out how to remove eureka's.

The City States are the only ones I would say I hate. All of the others are on the same level. No two games are the same. One that angers me one game it's cool the next. It all seems so random.

Lately everyone hates me. But that's because I've been more aggressive in the early game. It seems the AI remembers those early wars, even the ones started with zero penalty.

Scythia has been awesome. Hard to overcome the initial send-delegation bit but after that she seems to be a friend for the whole game. As long as you don´t cross her i guess :)

Absolutely hate China, always complains about wonders.
Absolutely hate Arabia, if he switches government he starts yapping immediately about my government (which he had one turn ago and everything was sooo awesome when he had that)

Roosevelt is worst though. The dude is a snake. "bully for you" then couple turns later he engages in a war where i have to check him a couple times to back down.

Warmonger hate is broken right now, so I just hate everyone in practice. As for preferences:

Love:

- France
- Spain
- China
- USA

Easy land, and USA/China/Spain sometimes like me too since I don't care about religion and rarely build wonders...USA because of circumstance really. I can keep him off me and just save Teddy for later.

Hate:

- India: UU + WW combination is obnoxious and this guy shouldn't even be leading India. Worth 3 archer rushing if nearby, if not it will take a while.
- Kongo: Screw this annoyance. Ranged resist resource-less sword spam is a pain, constantly hates me even though I don't go religion, and has a bias towards logistics nightmare.
- Scythia: I am disloyal because I've declared or fought in exactly 0 wars? Then I get hit by a joint war, and have to eat WW piling up mountains of horse corpses. History only remembers you for not being Genghis Khan. Get off my map.
- Rome: Butthurt if I don't expand, butthurt after I do expand too. UU makes him an early game chore.
