Movement effect on Unit attack factor?

Is the attack factor for air and sea units effect by movement in the same way it is for ground units?

I know the attack factor for armor (10) is reduced by 1/3 for each square it moves over unimproved terain. For example, does a battleship have it's attack factor (12) reduced for every square it travels.

I suppose the reduction only applies to land units (except on railroads). But if it did apply to any air or sea units it would be good to know.

Thanks

I didn't know that??? Are you sure you aren't just thinking about the reduction that land unites get if they don't ahve 1 full move left when they attack??? Unites moving on roads often have 2/3 or 1/3 move left and then they get a reduction on their attack!!!

I know it how you do Shadowdale.

Only if they have less than one movement point left do they get a reduction in their attack value. Plus the game always tells you when it will happen so you will always know.

It can be a killer thing too. I had one game where I was chasing down a comp diplomat and attacked him with a vet crusader who only had 1/3 movement left and lost. The diplomat was out in the open, so no speical defensive benefit due to terrain. Luckily I had a second crusader chasing him who also attacked at 1/3 and killed the beaten down diplomat. I lost a crusader but probably saved 3 cities from getting bought. <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/smile.gif" border=0>

Edit: Oh, and to answer the original question...

No, air and sea units do not have reduced attacks because they never have reduced movement due to roads. All their movement is at 1 per square.

Just to make sure you get it:

Units attack values are not effected by movement UNLESS they have only have a fraction of 1 movement left...I say a fraction rather than 2/3 or 1/3 as in some scenarios the road values etc allow 1/4 values etc.

It would be good if attack values decreased over distance...it would mean that units like tanks could move FAR in a year but only be effective over a certain RANGE.

Plus fighters would be good only near their airbases rather than everywhere THAT WOULD BE A WONDERFULLY REALISTIC ADDITION. PLUS it would mean bombers could do something in civ2 (hoping civ3 gets that sorted).
