Movies error

HI, first post here, joined specifically for this actually.

I have the latest patch, no Warlords, just plain Civ IV, and now, 90% of the time none of the movies will play, I get a plain blue box where the movie should be, wonder music stuttering badly in the background, then when it finally ends, my game will crash a few minutes later.

I managed to get through a game, with lots of quick saving, and won, I got a message saying the movies are not installed correctly, then it went black, except the curser, and changed resolution back to 800x600.

Any help would be appreciated thank you.

I'm having the same prob actually, sometimes the movies play allright but then it just freezes an it crashes, i disabeled the movies so i don't have that prob anymore but i liked it more with movie's on...

Try the low resolution movies you can download on the 2kgames Downloads page. There you can also find this advice:

Improving Movie Playback (1.61 Patch)

If you are still experiencing stuttering or slow movie playback after the 1.61 patch, try the following:
# Open the config (ini) file in notepad, and find the line which reads HideMovieBackground = 0, set it to HideMovieBackground = 1

# The intro and victory movies expand to fill the screen, so play the game at lower resolutions (like 1024x768) to get the best performance.

# If that doesn't help, a set of lower resolution movies will be available for download here:
