This is an excerpt(sp?) from a recent interview with Soren about AI. I edited out all the irrelevent drivel but saw that Firaxis might be upset if I posted it. Here's a brief quote that answers your question. I haven't personally tested it because I left the file at work over the weekend.
<Soren_Johnson_Firaxis1> GuestFr: I think if you right-click on a stack and hold down the shift key you can
activate multiple units at once. Can someone confirm this? I heard it might be broken.
<Pembleton> Yes you can do it
<Wexu> it works for me.
<Anunikoba> It works fine Soren
<Sunstone2> 1SOREN: thats right !
<Sabre2th> i can

then why don't they apply this knowledge/ability to the AI so they don't take 100 units doing the 2 tile shuffle. It would really speed up the game, on the AI's end at least.
Yes you can move them together, if they're on the same square and from the same type:
Hold the "J" key while moving a unit.
It helps A LOT, especially when it comes to workers.
Note that you can speed up the movement (NO ANIMATION) if you hold down the SHIFT key when moving a unit or when the AI is moving - SAVES A LOT OF TIME!
About moving units all that in one square:
I'm sorry, it's just pressing "J" and clicking on a square, not holding down the button. It works like "G" goto but with multiple units.
