MP Woes

Tried playing with a friend today, first we started up using Hamachi and a direct IP connection (I do this weekly using vanilla civ with no problems) each time we would load into an OOS error, and if one or the other quit and reset we the game would CtD after giving an error something to the effect of "unable to uncompress game data". After that we tried logging gamespy using the built in connection, however though we could see each other (and other people) in the lobby we couldn't see any games and couldn't see ones we created. If we switched over to vanilla civ we could see the same lobby but now see the games. Ultimately we gave up, any suggestions on what we might be doing wrong?

Make sure both have the exact same version. Also try deleting customassets (rename it if there's something there you want to keep).

Also, if you want to avoid OOS, play as a team, unless you really want to go to war with eachother..

A friend and I play it a lot over DirectIP, and after we started playing as a team, vs. computer-teams of 3, we only have an OOS like every 100-150 turns. When OOS occurs, just save the game, let the host reload it, and rejoin..

According to a lot of threads in here, the OOS happens when one player can see the AIs use ranged attack, but the other one can't... So, if one player has some goblin-fort standing near them, shooting at them, and you're not on a team, you can get the OOS..

Also, playing against eachother shouldn't be too big a problem, since the OOS only happens when the AI uses ranged attacks (Correct me if I'm wrong, anyone) - then just play against eachother, the two of you, with no AI-civs..

ok as for customassets you mean the shortcuts right

I mean what's in customassets, not the shortcut itself. But you can use the shortcut to get there.

ok did that but then tried to run the game no luck the wentthrough the two comps and made the games basically the save by deleting the custom folders got the game to run on ip but went one turn and it crashed any ideas

new problem tried to put in the new coredll and got now where the game wont even load up now
