My newest catch.. err girlfriend - has a Mac (bah!). It runs on OX4? (operating system is a [something]4 - you Mac users probably know what I mean) -- anyway, she doesn't have an Mp3 player on there. If I play a CD, I have to select 1 track at a time, each being a separate Quicktime console, and yeah - that sucks.

So, I was wondering if someone could recommend a free program (like a Mac version of Winamp or something) that will allow me to play songlists of Mp3's - preferably with a random option or something too. Her comp is older, so even though the OS is more current, assume that it's a step later when it comes to other system specs.

Thanks!

Is it a within-the-last year old, or years and years old? If newish, it'll be the latest operating system, OSX 10.4 (Tiger), which comes with iTunes. You can also download it free from Apple.com. iTunes is very easy: it should be a

icon in the dock - the floating line of icons on one side/bottom of the screen. Open that, insert your CD, and it'll normally auto-play the whole CD. If you want to reorganise, it's easier to import; just hit the Import icon

; once they're in your Library you can create a playlist with the little + icon at bottom-left: drag-and-drop from library to new playlist. Untick tracks if you don't want them to play, drag-and-drop to move them around, drag more from library if you want repeats. Macs are really very easy to use if you're willing to play around a little to get used to a new OS; also the Help .... Overview is actually pretty helpful. Mouse over most things and it'll say what they are, e.g. the Repeat button.
As a last resort, try the Civ 3 Mac forum; a stickied thread is called Tech Support, and Tao or AlanH will help with practically everything.

I want to say it runs OSX-4 -- it's got to be like 5 years old (I'd say it was the equivalent of a PC-Pentium II). It's definately a piece of crap, that's why I'm looking for a basic - low resource usage - music player. There's nothing built-in, on whatever this is. She has an iPod, but it's synched to her work computer (I doubt her home Mac is modern enough). A basic, old-school, mac mp3-list player is all I need. Thanks for the info thusfar.
