This is my second difficult SG. The first was MP5 AWDG archipalego. I'm hoping to get some good players to take on the challenge and discuss moves between turns...and have fun too. :D

MP, you are daring to go for AW, this time emperor on pangaea?

what's the Civ? I would move the settler 1 tile east to settle on the coast, delays getting the cow 10 turns, but has much better long term value

I would be up for it...

edit: stupid me, the heading says it already, we are Austria...well, this is a modded thing?
 
Yeah, I did AWM on pangaea on GA6. AWM is pretty easy.

The civ is Austria, MIL/IND, same as China with the Hussar - 7.3.3 Cavalry replacement.

It would be great if you could play. For opening moves I was thinking settler W, N, or SE, but I'd prefer to wait for discussions until some more people join.

It won't be that tough. Try a AWD tiny pangaea...the AI civs will meet you fast with their big stacks of units and you'll be dead in 20 turns. :lol:

True. Avoiding early contacts would be helpful
 
Good Luck. :D Grumpy old men tried this twice and never pulled it off. First time as England just to see if we could do it. No way, we were in a sandwich with AI to the north and south. If you are not deep in a corner of the mini map, try another start.

Second time we were the Ottomans, but wound up on an island ala Australia and the AI built a huge tech lead we could not overcome. We missed the Glib in that one.

Start the pre build early. :thumbsup: Miss the Glib and you are doomed.

I'm maxed out on SG's but I'm marking this one to watch.

Coastal capital on Pangaea won't help alot. Maybe move W so you get both the game and the cow. You won't get a full circle of core cities, but it may be better than 1/2 a core. Maybe move the worker to the cow first and see what comes from the fog.

Why is everyone saying this is so hard? We are doing this with 20k in LK106. By my understanding, that makes the 20k game impossible...right? Considering it can't be won by AWE pangaea itself.

I think you just need to survive the first 50 turns and make a very slow, but steady expansion.
 
The civ does look ideal, and the start is bloody nice. Last time I tried AWE continents, it was as Byz, with no ressources and no foe on much anything but my continent, so the diff should have felt similar, and being careful was enough to make it for my lowly idiot capacities. I'm sure you can pull it off - especially if Mr Rat tags along. Not even second thoughts against you.

I really really shouldn't sign up, so only consider me if you have a hell of a time finding 5 apt players.
 
Searching the SG threads I haven't found several AWE pangaea wins...so it's possible. :)

MP, I'd like to join if:

1. You agree
2. I never played modded games, is it problem to install all needed components?
3. I will be on reserve military service from 18-sep till 11-oct and mostly won't be able to play in this period.

What do you say?
 
LK106 is most definitely a pangaea. But I believe that game is just starting to get tough, it has waaay more toughness to come. It will make LK104 look like a cakewalk.
 
Soo - are you saying that my attempts on AWE on huge pangea vs 15 civs are hopeless?

Zorn, if you're really good at it and can stretch the game long enough, the AI's have a tough time past the Hussar stage. Hussars are very expensive and by that time a lot of obsolete buildings cost them much gold/cause thme unhappiness (they never sell slave marts), but getting it all the way there is something tough, especially with no 1-turn rotation of the guard like in C3C.
 
I'm thinking about changing this one to NOW with no alliances, if that's cool with everybody. It would still have the always-war "feel", because we're always at war, but a lot less difficult. Basically, more fun, less difficult. Of course, another part of me wants go down in an AW flame of glory. :rolleyes:

I still need one more signup to get this rolling.
 
NOW would sound good, take less time to play and make this fuzzy bear less reluctant (;)) to be pulled in
 
If you just want to start this, sign me in. AW or NOW, both is fine for me.
