Multiplayer 2 through a firewall

Does anybody know how to play MP through the firewall? The problem is that two guys want to play but both are in some kind of corporate networks and their computers do not have external IPs. We tried to tunnel port 4993 from MP server to the computer with real IP, but that seems not to work and the client is not able to attach. Did anybody fixed similar problem? Or, maybe there is a free server for linux? that would be a great help...

Had any luck with this yet? I am new to Civ 2 multi and cannot connect to another machine over the internet.
