I am very frustrated by this, just spent the entire night trying to get an old save loaded to finish an AMAZINGLY fun game (I am stuck in the tundra, and it is actually working well for me!), with no luck.
My wife and I have played quite a bit of multiplayer before, using a HUB to connect directly on one occasion while waiting for internet in the house, and ever since using our wireless. Each time we have used LAN game mode (though once long ago we played Warlords via internet connection).
Now, a couple weeks ago, just after Patch L came out, we started up a new game to enjoy the OOS free wonder of it all. It worked amazingly and I am VERY caught up in the game (I even took NOTES on what I was planning!). She finally felt like playing another day of Civ, and when I loaded the game up... she couldn't see any games active on her list.
No problem, she saved it as well. So she loads it... I can't get her to show up for me!
Same problem when I drag out the HUB and we direct connect.
Same problem when I go online to fetch my IP address and we try direct connection via IP.
Same problem when we get our old Gamespy accounts up and running. But now we can't even see any of the other games, and with what is going on in Lobby chat, I KNOW there are other games there! Neither of us can see anything though.
Now, it could have been an issue with our connection, but both of us have internet working (via the same wireless hub), and she can see all of my shared folders on the network, and access them.
In addition to that, this is a game we started in multiplayer, and we haven't patched or otherwise changed any of our files since then. I am at the end of my wits for ideas on what could have possibly happened to make it so neither of us is able to see any games at all. (not even new games show up, and if we try to launch the save game without the other person, it crashes us to desktop. Me with a quick view of the Civ map and an error window I am not fast enough to read. Her with a standard Microsoft "Do you want to report this error?" box).
