i like a highlands map because of the hills and high land ratio of the map (smartmap gives great options for getting high land ratios too - but thatd prolly be slow on startin) but terra is always fun with the whole new world to explore later.
i favour quick too, but i can deal with normal :P

GRRRRRRRRRR ARGHHHHH Curse the woman!!!!! (no offense to any women on here) I may have to delay this game a bit, say...maybe an hour. The woman is giving me tons of crap. I dont know. It is 7:00 PM EST here, and i will be leaving in 1 hour. hopefully I will be able to get things going by 9:00 PM EST. if not, well I guess carry on without me, unless you guys can wait.
Isn't it amazing how you can love someone and hate them at the same time??!!! :p I will post on here about 8:15ish my time, and let everyone know. (I dont expect anyone to wait for me for extended periods of time by any means)

hmm.. have either of you tried a standard size terra map high sea level with 5 players? i just tried it and it was a stretch to get 2-3 cities for each civ on the main continent. if we put any ai's its gonna be hard battling just for your second city i think.

ah oki, i always thought map size (regardless of land ratio) was the biggest lag causer. i don't notice much difference between terra and highlands, but i notice a huge difference between any standard map and a large map.
but then no ai's on terra high sea level? im really not liking being the one stuck with AI's taking my city sites, and it'll be random who gets stuck with em.
