woops, ya meant to say im leaning towards classical too.. and with continents, raging barbs is prolly a good idea to add some challenge early on (first defeat barbs, then fill up the continent, then conquer the world!!)
they're be easily manageable
i tested it and after about 10-20 turns or so they started sending occasional axemen, goblins, and spearmen. but it shouldnt be too hard to explore and sentry your entire continent thus eliminating their ability to spawn there.
Humm... So I will think a little more and decide if I will ensure peace in the world and become an utopia or if I will icely destroy my enemies, feasting on their bloods, and reward my allies. xP
I have only ever started from the beginning era not classical - I kinda like founding my own cities and stuff but then again I've never played from a classical start...
Classical era you also found your own cities... you begin whit 1 settler 1 archer 1 warrior 1 worker and 1 scout, and all Ancient era techs researched (mining, hunting, exploration, etc)
classical is nice because you start with enough units to defend yourself and get started on improvements (you get a worker and most techs needed for most improvements)
