Multiplayer probs?

Not sure if this is the place to post, but husband is trying to beat my poor little Russians up and sadly he's succeeding...til the game starts crashing whenever he tries to load it. We ended up playing over the internet as we couldn't see each other over the LAN. I have a Mac Book Pro and he has a scary looking Mac Pro and is hosting the game. We can see each other's computers over the network without problem. Is there some setting that we need to change so that we can play via LAN rather than internet? Does anyone else have this problem? (Both have the Mac version from disc, if that makes a difference.)

I just tried starting a Local Network game between my MacPro and my MBP, and it seems to work OK. All I had to do was to ensure that the two Macs had different User IDs. Firewall is off on both Macs, as I have a firewalled router to the Internet.

When my husband was at work I'd been trying to log in on both computers to set it up and I have the same log-in ID. He also insisted that there was no firewall so it "couldn't be that"! Sadly he did manage to beat up my Russians but now he's in a bad mood as we're having a re-match and it's not going quite so well...
