Multiplayer?

Just wondering if there is much of a multiplayer crowd for this game (or if it even works)?

I'm curious because the few times that i've logged on to multiplayer, no games show up, and I am not sure if that means there is noone else playing multiplayer FfH2 or if it means my version is messed up or not the right one.

I've tried with patch g and with patch j (i keep two separate folders for them and rename whichever one i want to use to the default name) but never seen any games...


(i do see games when i am not using a mod, so we know that civ4 bts does work at least)

Ah ... well there is a crowd, rather a substantial number of people for multiplayer.

With that being said, all multiplayer in FFH I have been aware of takes place within the Hamachi networks.

Over the past month, even hamachi has encountered a severe decline in activity, due to a number of factors.

At times, one could expect Dux, Kragroth, Lgaard, and Mimic to be frequently present. recently however, it is either Kragroth and Tasunke, or Onionsoldier and Tasunke.

Lgaard, Mimic, and Fall From Grace are good role-players ... Fall From Grace, Kragroth, and Dux are rather good at Free-for-All. Monkeyfinger is also good at Free-For-All, although I have only played one game with him.

In the past GenVec, Azhral, Earthling, and Fireblaze played often and well, and while I have seen Fireblaze fairly recently, the others have largely fallen off of the map.

It could be my imagination, although Late-Spring seems to be the most active time for Fall-From-Heaven multiplayer. This could be due to a number of factors, although I would like to see a good bit of activity after the 15th of December due to the "Holidays".

There are many other good players as well, some that always pick "random" and some that always play the same civ every.single.game.

Me and a friend are considering to try playing games with people over hamachi (its not always so stable for us).

We are wondering what would be expected behavior in a RP game (as opposed to FFA where I suppose anything goes?)?

You can actually connect, it has less issues.

Hamachi chat is useful for setting up games, talking beforehand etc

Hosted games don't show up in the lobby for some reason using the civ4 multiplayer

hamachi sets up connections between all players (though getting a game started sometimes is a pain in the *** hamachi does have weird issues)

I guess its possible to direct ip connect using someones normal IP rather than the hamachi one, but that has never worked well for me.

Thats what I got off the top of my head, in other words its slightly easier
