In civ 4 you could choose out of two leaders per nation. I liked that feautre, any hints it's coming back?

I think it is high time that every civ has a female/male choice. It could even give an interesting diplomacy dynamic.

I personally think this is the only valid reason for bothering with multiple leaders per civilization. Even in civ4 which I consider the penultimate civ game, multiple leaders simply bothered me. Every time they introduced a new leader, I would rip the leaderhead from the civ and mod in a new civilization instead. Pretty sure I turned washington into Tadeusz Kosciuszko of Poland, for example.

But anyway; some people think there are hints in the fact that each civ has a unique ability that specifically reflects the nature of it's leader. I myself remain unconvinced.

Discussed several times. In most cases new civ is better than new leader for existing civ with so different amount of work required. However, the things we know about the civs/leaders suggest we may see alternative leaders DLC at some point.

P.S. the thread could be merged with other threads on the same theme, I believe.

Some Civs even had three leaders. America, England, France and Russia, IIRC. :)

I sure hope that they have multiple leaders in Civ VI. I loved playing as Kublai Khan as a cultured Mongolian civilization. :)

I don't think they will invest time and money into it; though, it would be a nice feature with new agenda system. But if I were to choose between multiple leaders and new civilizations, it is obvious I would choose new civilizations - like most people probably.

Every civ now has a UA tied to the civilization and one tied to the leader, so the game is specifically made with multiple leaders in mind. Whether or not there will be multiple leaders per civ in the base game is unknown, but it's very likely that more leaders per civ will be introduced in DLC and expansions.

I really liked it in Civ 4 because it allowed them to show diferent aspects of each civilization and they did't need to boil them down to "the wonder civ" or "the warmonger civ". I was disappointed in Germany as a horde of rampaging barbarians led by Bismarck. Germany had a pure military focus and it really doesn't do Germany (and I'm including the HRE here) justice. The same goes for civilizations that have existed for far longer.
You could have a wonder focused China under Qin or a science or culture focused China under a Tang or Song emperor.
