Complete newbie, my 1st play lasted about 6 hours and I stopped at 1:45am this morning!! Can see this happening more than once!

My question;

Is it OK to have more than 1 mod installed at a time. Or should you only run one at a time?

thanks

Hello Talcum

a mod installed and a mod running is not the same.

You can have multiple mods installed. It should not be a problem but sometime you can have some incompatibilies even if they are not running (I had this with 2 of my own mods).

You can have more than one mod enabled but some mods are not compatible with other mods.
Be careful to read the mod's description, if you find out that 2 mods do not run together don't hesitate to report it to their authors.

Generally speaking, "big" mods that add a lot of content or modify a lot of UI windows can be assumed to be incompatible unless you see something that explicitly says otherwisse. Small mods, like ones that add a single civilization, are far less likely to conflict with each other, although you can still run into issues.

Checking your logfiles after starting the game is a good way to see if there were any obvious conflicts, but there can be many mod conflicts that won't ever appear in the logfiles. If two mods try to modify a single UI window, for instance, then whichever one is loaded last will take precedence, and the other's changes will be ignored; depending on what the mods were trying to do to that window, this might break the whole thing, or it might appear to work just fine and then crash a hundred turns down the line.
