As I mentioned in discussion in the currently concluding succession game, I'm interested in doing a SG in this vein:
Spoiler :

It's been too long since we ran a game under the Realms Beyond the Sword moniker. Too long... :)

Civ/Leader: See below
Map: Big and Small
Size: Standard
Snaky Continents, Low sea level
Speed: Epic
Difficulty: Emperor
Other: Choose Religions, No Vassal States

The basic premise is that we start by picking a civ and leader at Random. After every complete trip through the roster, we then use Worldbuilder tools to change to ANOTHER random new leader and civ, including all new traits, unique units, and unique buildings! This causes some bizarre side effects:

* All unique units and unique buildings from the previous civ before the swap still remain. However, you can no longer build new ones.

* You inherit everything already produced by the "old" civ, but otherwise it's like you're an entirely new civilization. That means Great Person points drop to 0 in all cities. Ditto for the Great General points.

* All research progress invested in the current tech disappears, although all techs learned so far are still present. Production in all cities also drops back to zero on all builds (it's like starting at 0 shields again on everything). This could make wonder construction very "interesting"! In addition, all units get to move again, even if they previously moved on the same turn! (We will avoid abusing this feature by simply ending their turn.)

* All Espionage also resets back to zero. Not only this, the relations modifiers with each AI also reset! :crazyeye:

So this is going to get very silly in a hurry. :sheep: :snowcool:

Roster
Sullla
TheArchduke
sunrise089
Swiss Pauli
Dantski

Wish us luck! This should be fun.

Civ swaps so far:

Pacal of the Spanish (Expansive/Financial)
Peter of the Zulus (Expansive/Philosophical)
Ramesses of Portugal (Industrious/Spiritual)
Frederick of the Khmer (Organized/Philosophical)
Wang Kon of the Romans (Fiancial/Protective)
Huayna Capac of the Vikings (Financial/Industrious)
Napoleon of the Germans (Charismatic/Organized)
Stalin of the Japanese (Aggressive/Industrious)
Churchill of the Chinese (Charismatic/Protective)

Basic idea is every turnset (so 100T for the first one, 50 after that) a lurker (Thanks Merovech) or one of us edits the WBfile so that we change to a random civ/leader combo.
While relatively overpowered in BTS, this will likely be massively OP in FFH2 (Warrens/GM city working forested hill mines!) as we collect UU/UB and even heroes, so should be considered more as a fun romp then anything serious.
Other then the base setup, I'm open to other options - though I'm only interested in a base game (so MNAI or EitB) and would prefer some options (Advanced tactics, Revolutions, Puppet States) to be switched off as they don't interest me.

I'm going to consider this a thread just for this SG idea - if you have others, I'm definitely interested in playing, but would prefer a new thread.
So who's interested?

I am in.

Acheron off is fine as the AI just suicides on it anyways.
Keep Orthus.
Maybe Extra mod-mod as it has the latest MNAI and most of EitB? I am warming up to the EitB changes, but don't want to ignore the AI improvements either.
Blessing on, wildlands on, living world on, all of the unique features.
Yes increasing difficulty, starting at Monarch so we will hit Deity by turn 200.
World wrap on, no tech brokering.

I almost wonder, would it be better to make us use Perpentach the whole game and only switch Civs? It seems both appropriate and hilarious.

I'll play, but I am having some problems with my install right now. I've been testing some modmods and I think I screwed something up.

Checking in on this.

Just one question re MNAI, does it change the base mod much like, say, Wild Mana, or is it more of an improvement mod? If its the first I may need to run a few games of SP to get a handle on it, otherwise I should be ok (but will test it anways).

Of course, like that paragon of pacifism, Sideshow Bob, I picked the last option "Thee, Bart, Thee".

I agree with most everything you said keich, but there's NO WAY I'm gonna play a game starting on monarch - its just way to easy.
Increasing difficulty's main effect is to change what the ais start with - so you go immortal/increasing to still get the challenge of deity without the butcher of ais with two settlers at game start.
Because of how much the first turns matter. starting the ais at monarch will mean we're going to have the game won by the time they reach immortal.
When compounded with the overpoweredness of the game we're playing, I think immortal/rising should still be easy
Problem with perpy is his traits will be reset every time we change - this really reduces the fun factor of him IMO.
MNAI tries to stay true to the original - EitB is based off it.

While I enjoy the symmetry of the votes, what different sg did you want kiech?

Regarding extramodmod, Id rather not because of a number of reasons - firstly I'm not very familiar with it (I've never got far in a game in it), secondly because I kind of want this to be as close to vanilla as possible, and EMM changes gameplay a bit too much for that idea, thirdly I don't think someof the changes made (especially with regard to leaders) would mesh very well with this sg idea and finally I don't consider the changes in ai since EitB v9 to be big enough to sway my opinion there.

Still, I'll happily go with the majority here - my ranking would be EitB >>>MNAI >>>ͺ>ͺEMM though.

The new EitB should be out in a week or so? I would like to play that version.

Possible, but I doubt it.
I have no plans to wait for it anyway.

When we get 5 players + settings hashed out.
I mean, I'm in no particular rush - I just don't plan to sit "waiting for godot"

I'd agree here, Immortal is probably the base start for a SG. I'm comfortable beating monarch (i.e. I just play away without optimising my turns) on all but the worst Jungled starts , and can beat Immortal relatively easy when I take the time to think about what I'm doing.

Given that every SG I've played I've been easily able to handle up to two levels above where I generally play in SP (except for the most hairy variants), and that this seems a good rule of thumb, then Immortal is well doable.

Immortal is fine. EitB 10 if it's out this weekend (fair?) Or V9 otherwise.

Yeah I can kick it off this weekend.
On the subject of increasing difficulty, I've been thinking about this and I don't think it would be able to work between changing leaders - however we could manually change the difficulty (each time you load with a new leader/Civ it allows you to change difficulty/speed).
This means when we think we can handle it we up it - maybe after the second set?

I'll be watching this with interest. Will be a lot of fun to accumulate UU/UB. I'd like to join in and learn much but in reality not quite at the level yet of rest of roster.

As far as settings, why let AI have unrestricted builds?

Ah good point.
Do we want to go restricted throughout, or just the first set?
