Hi! As we all know, the music in this game is great (though civ3 had even better imo). Now I just have a question;

Im trying to look up a soundtrack played during the "classical" era. I can find all the other soundtracks, for ancient, mideival etc in the civ folder... But not classical!
I cant even tell you what the song sounds like of course... but its pretty great. I dont know if its played with all leaders? Or if that is specific like in civ 3.

Anyone could help me with this? I realize, finding out what the song is called is impossible but maybe where I can find the soundfiles.

Thx! :culture:

Maybe it could be in just one of the BtS music folders or just the Civ IV music folders.

In Vista:
C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\CustomAssets\sounds\soundtrack

You'll see folders for:
"Classical"
"Industrial"
"Medieval"
"Modern"
"Renaissance"

:edit:
Also check here:
C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Assets\Sounds\Soundtrack

You'll get the same folders listed.

I'm not sure which one you need, and for which purpose...

Thanks for taking the time. in C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Assets\Sounds\Soundtrack they do indeed have classical listed along with the others... Only it in fact does not contain the "classical" soundtrack but the "ancient" one! So the ancient folder got renamed and the classical went missing...

I will look at the other path and see if I have more luck there.. though Im afraid it will be the same.

Thanks again

Yeah, in 'Classical' the four files are named "Ancient" something or other. That refers to the Classical era (BC times).

Are you looking for a Baroque or Romantic piece? Many people call Beethoven and Bach and Mozart Classical when it's really not classical.

Sorry, I will attempt to make the terms clear (also sorry if my english is confusing, not my first language).

Every "era" has a different soundtrack.

What Im looking for is a piece of music that plays during the "classical" period. You know, with iron working, calendar, code of laws... Not the bach or other... classical music that plays during other eras. Im pretty sure its not bach even though it reminds me of him. I guess proto bach

Anyway, the music for that "era", the "classical era", is different from "ancient era" and "medieval era".

The 4 pieces of music in the "classical" folder are only played during "ancient era", not classical era. And the 10+ for "medieval era" are all played during the actual medieval era and none of them plays during the classical era.

EDIT:

I should also mention I play with Warlords and BtS... So this music, or distinction between "ancient" and "classical" era music might not exist in vanilla. I assume most people have BtS tho?

Thanks again

I found it! Sorry, I just had to explain all of this, and send you all of to listen to this great song you surely didnt pay enough attention to before!

Its called "Peloponnesian" And is in the Warlords soundtrack folder. I cant believe I missed it before. Here is what made me listen through ALL of the warlord tracks again lol...

wikipedia said:
Original music was created for the expansion Civilization IV: Warlords and includes specifically themed music for each of the several scenarios, and several new Leader pieces. Civilization IV: Warlords also uses music from Civilization III to fill out some of the areas overlooked in the original Civilization IV such as music for the "classical" period, and adding eastern music for the Asian scenarios.

So, go listen to "Peloponnesian", if you cant be bothered with all 6 minutes, start from 2.10.

God this song is great.

Thanks again for the help and indulgence!
