I just played this game online for the first time in a while and is it just me or is everyone using rifle grenades these days? Its nothing but noob-tubers and [crap]stabbers anymore. I couldn't believe it. Or am I just imagining things? Do any of you think there is anything short of getting rid of explosives altogether to stem the tide of noob-tubism?

Welcome to Call of Duty 4 multiplayer!

The CoD series is pretty much on the way out imo, it will probably be a slow, long, drawn out agonizing decay as Activision milks every last drop of blood (money) out of it. RIP CoD.

The problems you mention and the often mediocre if not lousy connections due to the P2P hosting are what caused me and my friend to lose interest in the game (thankfully I didn't have to spend any money, I played it on his comp while he was at work).

I'm a pretty experienced MW2 player, and i can confirm that your experience was not a one off. Sadly, both infinity ward and the horrible community have joined forces to ruin a perfectly good (nay, great) game with a ton of BS.

Having said that, it is still undoubtedly my favourite game if i just want to blow off some steam and slay some noobs.

I am fairly experienced as well (I think I'm at level 42, haven't played recently), and I see what you and OP are talking about. While I did noob tube for quite a few of my lower levels, I switched over to AR's and MG's up until around level 25. After that it was all Barrett .50 cal and pistol for me.

Though I find it an incredibly humiliating way to die, I don't think knifing someone isn't bad. It actually can take quite a bit of skill to knife a good player.

In MW@ however with the right combo of perks you can kill like 3 or 4 guys with knives and/or shotgun before they realise what hit them, helps even more if the lag conditions are right.

Knifing is pretty lame too, its some weird slashing across the character model (or thin air) and you die, Bad Company 2 actually involves digging the knife into the model, its so much more satisfying.

Take it from a 2+kd player who has over 60000 kills, it does not take skill to knife someone.

Theres a reason why I play Bad Company 2 instead of MW2...

It does when the person you're stabbing is of a high level (with skill that matches).

I prefer team/clan matches (I forget the actual term), where there is a group of guys that function with commando like precision. Always in a group, always checking their flanks, support fire whenever someone takes a shot at them. Even when our team (non-clan or whatever) is in a more easily defended position, they move right through us.

I'd usually be off to the side, prone, waiting to pop whoever was stupid enough to break cover. But one sniper can't take on an entire squad like that at that distance.
