I just got done rebooting my computer.

This has happened several times: I boot the thing, and log on. Normally, I open a folder or the Internet while the Systray (wait, it's XP, so it's the notification area) loads. Today, and in the past a few times, a few seconds after I click a folder, nothing happens. The cursor goes back to arrow. Ticked, I click on the Start Menu. A full minute later, I can't even click on anything. Now really [pissed] off, I hold the button down on my machine, shutting it off.

This led to me kicking the button on the machine once (breaking it off, we had to remove the faceplate :mischief: ) and there seems to be no pattern except: It only happens in the morning, like now where it's 60 degrees Farenheit out. So, what causes this?

My specs:

2.6 gHz CPU
80 GB hdd (about 33 GB free)
512 MB memory
256 MB Video RAM

If you need to know anything else, let me know. :)

Could it be that an anti virus scan in auto-scheduled for, say 8am? Those scans do slow the system down.

Look in the event viewer and see if you are getting any warnings. Most likely it's some piece of software trying to load, or AV/AS set to do a scan on startup.
