If your only hard drive in your pc has simply failed and won't run at all, everything on it is gone. Now if you were willing to spend a few $1000s, you could send it out to try and recover the files. If it's not worth that, toss the thing and start over.
If the hard drive semi works, you can try putting it in a computer as a second hard drive and attempt to recover your files.

K. Will do but is their different levels of one being better then another, because I don't want a crap one.
Well look at the abilities that you want. If you want something that will burn DVDs, then any that do that will do pretty much anything else you want.
