I won it by 2000+, it took me forever.
I was playing as Greece vs Sweden, the Mayans, France, Austria, the Iroquois. Basically a 6 civs map on continents.
Somehow I managed to defeat and puppet the cities of the Mayans and Sweden who were on my continent, that was the easy part.
On the other continent, France conquered the other civs, obliterating Austria and the Iroquois, and next they set their sight on me...
They attacked me with planes, battleships, artillery was I was still at the Frigate and Cannon. At some point I was that close to give up, they were just wiping out my city states allies and the cities I puppet-ed from the now extinct Mayans.
Just when all hope was lost I got dynamite and stopped their push, and went to refrigeration and started spamming submarines. That allowed me to wipe out their naval units and to catch up a bit tech wise.
Eventually I could liberate some of the city states they conquered, and my submarines pretty much blocked all their attempts at further naval invasions.
In terms of policies, I took Tradition, Honor, Piety, Patronage and Liberty. It was probably way suboptimal, I mean my whole game was for sure.
But what a feeling of achievement and of satisfaction to eventually get my first cultural victory ever (it's my 3rd game at prince, may be my 6th game overall). I'm sure it's a pretty pathetic win for veterans, but that was an intense game for me, sweating bullet every turn wondering how to keep Napoleon at bay a little longer.
I started that game at 6PM and ended it at 1PM the next day... 19 freaking hours, no sleep. I heard of that game before but only got it recently and I'm amazed at how addictive it can be.
And that gentlemen was my little story !
