I know its only because of customization, but my program won't work properly because of it.

I tried the command prompt, but no avail. Any ideas?

EDIT: I tried this -- http://support.microsoft.com/kb/256614
The command prompt says the parameter format is wrong, although I put it in exactly as says. I'm not sure if its because its in Program Files, which has two words.

i'll try it. thank you.

It didnt give me error, but nothing happened.

I did that, but it always comes back.

You may need to make the required registry change. It seems as if windows is attaching importance to the read only attribute and overriding your actions. Changing this registry setting should change windows' focus of attention. I would then restart for good measure, and then try to change the attribute.

i did do the registry thing.

Oh, and while I think of it IIRC when you customise a folder there is a desktop.ini file created within it. If you set windows to show hidden and system files, you can delete it and "de-customise" that folder.

Have you tried using the attrib command? From a command prompt:
attrib -r foldername

Yes, I tried that, either it gives me an error or doesn't do anything.

I viewed hidden files, and no desktop.ini.

My external hard drive was stuck like this for ages. What fixed it for me was what WD called a "hard reboot" which actually meant turn it off at the button on the front (the one the manual tells you to never press) rather than the switch at the plug socket, then reinstall the firmware. If it's an internal drive, I can't think of anything to do with it.

Well, anyways, I got the program working. I *thought* it was the read-only, but it turns out some of the files were missing.
