My friend can't launch Caveman2Cosmos (steam)

His steps to install:
Remove all civilization 4 and documents folder.

Install Civilization BTS (nothing else)

Download Caveman2Cosmos off MODDB (its not a .exe, just a folder)

Installed to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization IV Beyond the Sword\Beyond the Sword\Mods\Caveman2Cosmos

Set launch options to Mod=Mods\Caveman2Cosmos

And he doesn't have ANY other civ 4 install loaded.

And all it does is start up Warlords (even though he doesn't even have warlords installed).

He can also start up the mod MesoAmerica, and that works fine. And other mods work fine. But for some reason he can't start up Caveman2Cosmos, it only launches Warlords for him

He also tried running in admin mode, and that didn't work either

Anyone have any idea why he is having this issue? Its only caveman2cosmos, the other mods work for him.

(oh and one last thing

He also tried loading the mod inside the game, and it gave him the same problem of just opening Warlords (which he doesn't even have installed which is funny lol)

1) You do need to run in admin mode.
2) You need to download v3.19 patch from THIS ste(there's another one out there that firaxis did) and install that.
3) You need to ensure that there isn't a caveman2cosmos folder inside the caveman2cosmos folder (steam tends to make this error on install.) If there is, cut the caveman2cosmos folder within the other, delete the original, and paste the caveman2cosmos folder you cut directly into the mods folder so as to remove the empty layer.

This is an old problem if he is only getting the Warlords screen. This is because of a setting in the Main BtS screen that has the options for Advanced. There is a menu that allows you to see Warlords or 2 versions of BtS and one other start screen. Find that menu and make sure it's on BtS Classical or the other BtS (I forgot what it's called), then try starting from the BtS short cut on your desktop and see if it shows up 1st with the BtS screen and not the Warlord screen.

EDIT: start Bts from your desktop short cut. When you get to the main screen select Advanced. Once in advance select Options. Once Options is selected click the Graphics Tab. Bottom menu select BtS Classical. Exit game, restart from Civ IV BtS short cut. Should now come up as BtS Classical and not Warlords.

IF he has problems after this it is because Civ IV has to be installed too and updated to the last official Civ IV patch. Should never uninstall Civ IV only need to uninstall BtS rarely. And Warlords Is part of the BtS expansion pack.

Sometimes when you re-install that menu gets switched to Warlords from BtS Classical. Little quirks of installing a game. Glad I could remember this one.
