When I goto properties of C:, it says 62.9 GB used.
When I select all files and folders in C:, i only get 53 GB.
Why is it like this? Is there some secret partition I don't know about? Or maybe it's the 9 gigs I reserved for system restore. But shouldn't that show up when I select all files and folders? It would suck a lot to lose 10 gigs.

Also, a mini question. When I last reformatted my hard drive, my windows directory was about 300 mb (XP home). My windows directory, however, has somehow grew to 2 gb. Is this supposed to happen? I understand that programs I install leaves stuff in there but how can the files amount to such a large size?

Thanks.

Yup, that's Windows XP for you.

There are a lot of hidden files and folders on your hard drive, and this is why you cannot account for all of your HD space being taken up.

Whenever you install updates to XP it installs extra files. Everytime you install certain programs, it will also add files to your XP directory as well.
