My Icon Buttons have disapeared

After I installed patch 1.6 I lost all my icon buttons in game(advisors,menus,everything) I have to use popups to navigate.

Tech support says it was my video card but I changed that out and it was not the prob. I have changed all the settings to the lowest but that did not fix anything except to make the game blazing fast. I got 1ghz mem 3.2 Pentuim D prossecor. 128mb video 64mb sound. I cant figure it out. It is only this game.

could be an issue with game cache not cleared. either clear the cache folder, or bypass cache (by holding shift during startup)

could be also a mod problem. in this case, uninstall, delete all leftover civ folders, install and patch
