My Sipahi Army lost to a Spearman...

My war-fighting style is based on the philosophy "Leaders don't come, you need to go get them, nyo", so I attack injured or weak units with (even sometimes injured, nyo) elites to try to get the leader, nyo.

It only takes four good rolls in a row to kill a vet. I have seen a spear redline an MA, but never kill one. Ouch

I think there is something in tho code that makes tha "last man standing" in a city powerful than any others. i defeat all spearmen with my med inf, to the last one, three knights and four med infs can't kill that last spearman! when the city builds another spearman, the previous one dies in the first attack! this rng creates heroes!

The same thing happens to me, I slaughter their forces with ease, and then the last guy gets an invincibility upgrade or something.

I once had a 10/12 cav army lose against an unfortified 4/4 hoplite out in the open on flat land. The hoplite only lost one hit point the whole time. Usually when I lose an army, though, it's because I've done something unutterably stupid.

It's true, it's always so hard to finish off the defenders. Once I killed all the 10+ defenders with no casulties, but lost 4 elites to the last one.

Maybe it's because odds gets worst after every succeed fight and so if you have 10 wins in a row then odds for the last one are really poor.

But usually you lose a couple of units in the process off picking off the 'backup' defenders anyway... so there's no excuse for the last Spearman to have any better odds than the other defenders!

You can always calculate the chance (4 x12faculty) It should be something like 1/16million for that to happen. I could believe that was a BUG!

Either that or just the creation team being EVIL...

As unfortunate as losing an army against a (supposed-to-be...;)) weaker target may be, I wonder if the retreat function of armies was removed in C3C. I've lost quite an amount of armies to slow units and can't remember a single retreat.
Anyone had a retreat in C3C? Please, just to release my paranoia...:)

That is, IIRC in vanilla, an army would have retreated at times.
(btw: always wondered about retreat chances here; as for single units, could that possibly depend on the army's 'rank'?)

Nope, I've never had an army retreat in either vanilla or C3C. They always seem to fight to the death, which is kinda stupid...

Iv seen an army retreat before. It was a cav army retreating after it got attacked by a cav

No, they may retreat. I almost lost an army, but it routed at last.
I don't think it can route if you don't have more moves left. Perhaps the base unit of the army must be faster as well (that it isn't enough that the army itself is faster)
