My "vacation" thread.

I've decided against Domination for the Huge/Emperor map I've been discussing a lot. I've already got Domination. It'll either be Conquest or Spaceship. Diplomatic is probably out of the question.

That game is temporarily shelved though. I'm currently playing a Standard Warlord. I wasn't even sure what vic I'd go for when I started it. Right now it's around 1300ad and I'm just running around with Cavalry killing stuff. I haven't even bothered trading maps with anyone so I'm charging into fog on unrailed tiles. Don't really care though, I'm having fun on a Monday night.

I'm used to the Science Advisor being a downer about tech progress, so I've never witnessed this kind of enthusiasm. Actually, I'd say he's dreaming.

Just finished my Standard Warlord and submitted. If it clears, I'll finish Pentathlon and it'd be my first HOF Diplomatic game, so a step closer to Machiavelli.

What do you mean "if it clears"?;)

I think he's referring to it not being in his control. His games have to be cleared by either space or myself.

I know!;) I was just kidding about the fact that he has accessed to the same tools that you guys are using to check his game; therefore, if he knows that his game probably won't clear, he won't submit. I was just simply pointing out that the probability for Slug's game to be rejected by you or Space is zero.

A logical assumption, but I'm also only human:
-Entries 820 and 396 were incomplete submissions. (820 wound up being 821, and 396 was a game I didn't finish.)
-Entry 203 I forgot to enable Preserve Random Seed, and to this day I'm not sure how it got turned off. Still, it's a required setting...
-Entry 205 was started in Vanilla and finished in PTW. When I instituted the "same patch/version throughout gameplay" rule, this was one of very few games removed.

Why can't you just check your game before you submit it (of course, they would still have check it again before publishing it)? For example, you could easily figure out that you have forgotten to Preserve Random Seed; therefore, it would spare Dianthus and Space from having to inform their chief that his game will be rejected.;)

I posted my submission list to show that I'm not above the "law" even though I'm largely the decider of it. Let's just leave it at that. :scan:

Anyway, now that game's in, all I have to do is finish Conquest, Spaceship and any two of Emperor through Sid. I'll probably use my Emperor/Huge for Conquest and do a Spaceship on Demigod. Then I'll be a full Quartermaster, although I'll probably backtrack and do something on Deity and try Sid for the Elite Octathlon.

Other than that, I'll likely do one last huge milk run and then call it quits on CivIII. :(

Sorry, chief! I didn't mean to pick on you. It was a long and boring day and I was just trying to make some small talks; didn't mean to stir up any trouble.:(

I was going to say that too.;) It's easy said than done, you know. Believe me...I have already tried to quit Civ3 more than once, but look what has happened....I'm still here.

No need for the apology, Your Dairy Highness! I wasn't at all upset and certainly don't mind the small talk. I just couldn't comment further on that particular line of thought without discussing classified information. My apologies to you if I sounded angry.

Well, the key word is "likely". If I have time for 2 milk runs, great. On the other hand, with running III-HOF and preparing for IV-HOF, time does start becoming a restraint. And if by some small chance there's a beta-test of IV and I'm picked, that will almost certainly be the kiss of death to my III career as a player.

To the Kiss Of Death!

(You, and many others from CFC should be invited to beta-test Civ 4 for many reasons......It will be interesting to see if and when anyone is invited.)

P.s. I've never been so happy about addicts as to know that the sweet Moonsinger is one........it's perfectly normal in this world!

I just wish, on a boring day, you could go home from work early and play HOF Civ!? :groucho:

I wasn't bored at work today and I still went home early for Civ. Well, kind of. It was four hours before I actually booted the game since I was working on HOF 'stuff'. Dianthus gave me some php links to read through so I could start learning that language.

Thanks for the insight 'slug....."You" in my post actually referred to Moonsinger!

Right. I obviously forgot about your infatuation. Easy mistake though, you sounded like you were talking to a hard-core addict, and she and I both are, of course the primary difference is that her accomplishments as a player are a smidgen more noteworthy than my own.[/understatement]

As they say: "Nothing happens until a salesman sells something!"......The HOF has truly come together as a TEAM of Regulars, with guest appearances by experienced and inexperienced players alike...........The format has evolved........the enthusiasm in the HOF is at its highest level ever.

Team HOF is the key............and YOU are the Leader. You should be very proud of your accomplishments! :goodjob: :goodjob:

Thunderfall must be very happy too.........he's The Moderator but he hasn't had to "Moderate" even one time............A Business Owner's Dream come true!

Don't sell yourself short 'slug......you're doing GREAT!

Went back to my Huge/Emperor former milk map tonight. Probably going to jump my Palace to the city where I can build Iron Works. SPHQ and FP towns will also become supercities to continue building up the military, as a deterrent, so that I can research up to nukes and mech infantry, then obliterate the remaining AI in much less sophisticated fashion than settler creep.

Mapfinder's running Demigod tiny maps with me as Celts versus France and India. Those two were my opponents in my first ever III Deity win, so I'm either being nostalgic or supersititious. Probably both.

For now though, I have to counterbalance my Civ addiction with my slightly less powerful but older addiction to shooters. Doom95!

I abandoned my Emperor game for good tonight. I got hit with a very annoying bug and a crash, as well as an unwanted war with Carthage. It's not that they were a fierce opponent, but more that it was boring as hell. As for the bug, one of my automated workers decided to visit one town, then a second town, then a third town, then the first town, then the second town, over and over again for at least a half an hour while I had dinner.

Hopefully Civ will be more cooperative after an uninstall/reinstall.

Now you know why some of us don't automate workers. Every once and awhile I accidently automate one and spend many turns trying to catch him when he moves so I can get control back. The whole process is very amusing after I finally succeed but frustrating while it occurs.
