n0x-01 -- I Wonder...

Not too long to go now. We just need to get a apollo done and build a spaceship and we'll have beaten the variant!

(0)-1865AD - Forbidden Palace is due in 3 in Bombay, The Space Elevator is due in 14 in Bangalore and West Point is due in 6 in Karachi.
Hangzhou and Tianjin are feeling a lot of cultural pressure. Has Tianjin already had one revolt? It's only 7% Indian so likely to flip eventually like this.

(1)-1866AD - Macau comes out of revolt finally.
I take a look at all our spies to see what everyone else is researching. GK is researching Industrialism, HC - Plastics, Alex - Plastics and Hatty - Rocketry.

I then carried out a bit of trading. Hit singles to Alex for 16gpt, Hit Singles to Hatty for 9gpt. I cancelled the uranium for coal deal with HC. We've got our own coal now. I also cancel the iron to JC (for free) and the Rice to JC for 2gpt. I then sold the rice back to HC for 4gpt.

(2)-1867AD - I traded Hit Movies to Hatty for 13gpt.
UN vote comes up and I chose Single Currency.
I used the great artist that we had sitting there in Tianjin to help it with it's revolt problems. Reduces the chance of revolt a bit but we'll need to keep on building cultural buildings.

IBT: Hatty cancels the copper deal with us... Ouch... I guess she's doing this because we've just finished Fibre Optics and she thinks its worth more than what we were giving here.

(3)-1868AD - Fibre Optics comes in and I go for Fusion for the Engineer. Alex has copper but won't trade it to us. Hatty wants aluminium for here copper now. I offer her gold + spices and she surprisingly accepts! So then Delhi starts the Internet. Due in 25! :D Thank goodness for the copper deal.

(4)-1869AD - Bit of building and worker stuff

(5)-1870AD - Not much

IBT: HC wants us to declare on GK. I tell him that we've taken a vow to be peaceful from now on.

(6)-1871AD - West Point is complete.
New UN vote and this time I select none as there is nothing worth voting on.

(7)-1872AD - Not much

(8)-1873AD - GK is now doing plastics and Alex is doing flight for us.

(9)-1874AD - Fusion comes in and I go to refrigeration as no-one else has it and we'll get the missing techs with the internet.

Then I get a message that Alex has completed Apollo and change my mind. Let's start rocketry to get the Apollo done. The Great Engineer is used to rush the space elevator as it's our last World Wonder!!!!

(10)-1875AD - The Space Elevator is completed.

Civ4ScreenShot0198.jpg

And as I said, unless I'm missing something, that's the last world wonder!! We did it. We got all the world wonders!! We've got a couple of world projects and national wonders to finish and then we can launch our spaceship...

UN Vote, I choose none again.

The artist and the cultural buildings have worked as Tianjin has no chance of revolt anymore. We should keep up with the cultural bulidings though to try and win back some cells to work.

Some pics for the lurkers.

Looking good there Kiknit. A really big :goodjob: on choosing Rocketry over Fusion (Fusion should be next though), the sooner we start that Apollo program the better.

Fusion is complete. I was contemplating refrigeration next as it's a tech that no-one else has and the internet would give us the techs that everyone else has. Alex finishing the Apollo changed my mind though.

I think with our production, resources, the space elevator and laboratories, we will complete the spaceship very fast. The way to do it should be to build the casings in our 2nd string towns as they don't need to be finished fast and the big components in our main towns.

Alrighty then...

Not to much really. Started Apollo Program and filled time with building Mech Infantry. Deterance against agression. ;) Finished all rail and other sundry improvement by the middle of my turns. They (the workers that is!) are napping in Dehli. I've left one active so you should cycle through to them.

We got another GE in Dehli. I ummed and ahhhed for a few turns what to do with him; save for the Red Cross or merge with Bangalore to speed Apollo and parts along. In the end I sent him on down to Bangalore and merged him. We can squeeze Red Cross in at Bangalore as well.

We still have two great persons left, just enough for another golden age btw...

Set research to Refrig then Genetics (still 2 turns left), seeing as we need it for the space race and we can use the +3 health.

I delayed the Internet 3 turns at Dehli and built a grocer. Mostly to make sure we pick up a couple of techs with it.

Genghis and HC made up again early on. Pretty quiet after that. Got a few late turn visits. HC wanted Mass Media, which I gave him just to shut him up. Lo and behold next turn he suggests that Hereditary Rule was where it is at. I contemplated complying, seeing as we are spiritual... :crazyeye: for a few seconds, then said no. I happened to notice that we are -7 with Genghis too. Make sure we do not neglect military in the meantime!

The best one was this gem from Hatty:

:crazyeye:

We won another UN vote. I opted no vote during my turns.

T0-Things look good.

T1-In Bangalore (currently getting 140 hammers per turn) I change one of our extra dye plantations to a workshop, this changes the hammer output to 152 and knocks a turn off of the Apollo Program (now due in 9) in two turns a farm will become a workshop too.

T2- Genetics comes in I went with Satellites- lets build the SDI too. In fact I am reconfiguring Bangalore for max hammers- if you want go back when Apollo finishs and reconfigure again for growth. I am (in Bangalore only) putting workshops over the towns.

T3-Mogolia is now researching Rocketry, HC still on Robotics, Alex Composites, Hatty is still on Flight (20 turns left for her to finish Apollo), JC starts Radio (due in 12). This turn I change from Free Market civic to State property-this increses our gpt by 50 and makes the watermills/workshops that I am building in a few place truely viable.

T4- Apollo now due in 4 in Bangalore.

T5-The transformation of Bangalore is now complete it now gets 220 hammers per turn and increase of 33%. I am now due to the extra health from genetics gonna workshop over the forests in Delhi to get the hammers towards the Internet.

http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/8783/civ4screenshot00306ea.jpg

T6-The Internet is due next turn now, so is Satelittes.

T7-We get Flight. SDI started in Delhi. Apollo due next turn. Ecology started tech wise. Only Alex has Medicine- I was hoping we would get that.

T8- Apollo comes in I start up parts in all cities that should be building parts and start a golden age. Perfectly timed to help us finish our research and build parts. It will last 10 turns.

T9-I rush a Lab in Beijing so that it can build parts too.

T10- I vote for us for Sec. Gen. The next player will have to say how it turns out. Ecology is due the next turn. Go ahead and research Medicine, none of the AI is researching it so we should just do it our selves. Bejing just reached it a pop. where it is working all of its tiles, so now lets workshop over the farms there too. You could also do this in Bombay and Delhi and other places, we don't really need research anymore, we need production so workshop over the towns once medicine is in.

The save

http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads12/SG_Wonderboy_AD-1895.Civ4SavedGame

Things are looking good. Ecology came in and I went for Medicine. We need to build 6 hospitals before we can build the Red Cross.

The vote for Sec-Gen was won by us. I had a couple of resolutions and I chose none each time. After Medicine came in, I went for Composites. Composites came in and we're doing the first future tech.

We got global warming outside Karachi and Hangzhou!! Not good but we're nearly there so we can ignore it.

By the end of my last turn, we're short only 1 hospital. It's being built in Guangzhou. Buy it next turn and then we can build the red cross somewhere else.

All Space Ship parts are in production or complete. We'll finish the last part in 7 turns. In that time we need to finish the red cross so I would recommend going to 0% research and buying the red cross when we can. We should be able to afford it before 7 turns I think. Or we can just pause the last spaceship part until we finish the red cross.

Here's the save:

Kanga Du

Make sure the Red Cross is purchasable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Before you finish that last part in 7 turns. I can never remember what is buyable and what is not. For example I thought you could buy the Internet, but when I tried you could not  . Could be a 1.61 change. It is just one of those issues that you only come across once every six months (at least with my style and amount of play).

-Atlas

NP Atlas. Internet is a world project btw, not a wonder, hence not rushable/purchasable. Red Cross is a wonder and so should be. Will make sure I can get Reddy before completing the spaceship. ;) Looks like the johnny-come-lately gets to finish up with any luck. :D

EDIT: Or maybe not. Kikinit, I can't download the save as the link does not appear to be working

Kanga, I understand that there is some problems with the civfanatics upload server. PM me your email and I'll send it when I get home tonight (3-4 hours).

Well then, short and sweet! The autopilot should land us safely, but watching out for the unexpected. :scan:

T0 - Quick double check. Try not to get ahead of self! Research to zero.
T1 - Need extra hospital, so I change one of the fringe cities (um notes! notes I say!) that I seem to have neglected to note down, to a hospital.
T2 - Buy that hospital. Another no need to vote at the UN. :p
T3 - Bangalore is free now - start RC there. Only 4 turns, we have left to build a casing (4) and life support (2). 8000 to buy this turn. Next turn then.

T4 - RC only 3144? Sold. Research back to 100% for the heck of it. Future Tech is 7 off, so not gonna see it at all.
T5 - Beijing - casing (2) :twitch:
T6 - UN sec-general vote.
T7 - :king:

Thanks all. A special thanks for the opportunity to join along on such an interesting game.

:goodjob:

Oh I can't post the save game, zipped even, as it's too big. PM me an email addy if you'd like it.

Good Game there everyone!

Wonderful! We really did it! :D

Thanks all for a great game. I enjoyed this one a lot. Now to try this variant on Monarch....:crazyeye:

Well done to everyone  we all played this game well. Thanks Sina for hanging on through the period when there was only the 2 of us left and Kanga for stepping in to help us out.

I hope the lurkers who were around at the start saying it was impossible have continued to lurk :D and have seen the impossible done.

Kanga the servers are working now so you should be able to upload the replay file.

You can upload large files to the server. Just not as an attachment like normal. Just click the upload file down the bottom of the page and upload the file to the servers and then post the link. Files can be bigger than 500k that way.

One more thing, you actually only really need to post the replay file as I won't load the save anyway.
