Well, the nation name thread is up. So we might as well get a thread like this going also.

I'm sure there are some graphical talented people inside of the demogame, make a flag and post it here.

Well, we already have a general idea as to what Civ were going to chose.

I think the flag should incorporate the colors (Default + Alternate) of whatever civ we use, so I think it'd be best to wait.

well right now it looks like we are going to be England and they dont have an alternate color( i think they only have orange.) so perhaps we should have orange with a flower or a star or a sword

How about representing the three main "pillars" of victory types: Culture, Diplomacy, and Military with a Culture Note, Diplo Screen Scroll, and a Sword? The three of these could appear on a banner-shaped, dark-orange area in the center of a lighter orange flag.

(I'll throw together something in paint just to represent the design.)

I would prefer something close to Union Jack as a flag, to be in tradition with the real flag. However, we should somehow incorporate six stripes of some sort for DG6.
What about an inverted Union Jack, replacing red with blue and so on ?

Underneath we can have the national proverb of sorts.

How about the White Ensign? We can use orange instead of white for the main color and replace the red Cross of St. George with white? I'd do it myself, but I don't have Photoshop.

I liked Japanaticas flag for being close to the original.

Inverted the colors of the original English flag. The big yellow blob is supposed to be the sun, and a crown in the middle of the sun, so the sun never sets on the British Crown. Blue blob in the NW of the sun is a mistake on my part, undo couldn't remove it.

I think you need to make that sword look like a sword. Right now, it looks like an upside down cross (which might offend some people).

I like YNCS's idea. Why dump the Union Jack?

I like the idea of using YNCS's flag as a base. But I feel like we should have some sort of difference in the standard flag. After all, we're the Demogame, not England. Perhaps we could put a big "DG" in one of the empty corners of the flag.

Here's a few templates to start off with:

Remember that you can put a national seal or something on it. (Don't put UUs, since we don't have those yet from the start). CFC Red and orange aren't exactly the best of combinations though...

Here's a suggestion -- Let's wait on the flag until we see what our start is like. We could find some inspiration there.

I just played with my White Ensign idea with MS Paint, making the Orange Ensign. Unfortunately, Uploads9 doesn't appear to recognize .bmp files.

Yes you are. It needs to be a gif, or jpg file.
