I could see putting Celtic symbols on the flag if we were the Celts. But we're not.

A flag with the U.Jack in the corner would do fine for me.

Maybe something like the Australian flag, but with a Civ feature instead of stars.

PS.: Maybe we could have different flags for different eras? Like in real life, you know... One flag with tribal motives for Ancient, one with religious for Medieval, one with a boat for Industrial-Modern, etc.

No people should incorperate diverent aspects of the country and its roots. Not just its modern day appeance.

I would like to see a simple flag incorporating a white and a red rose. Alternatively, a single red and white rampant lion on a blue background.

If you describe the rose flag a bit more precise (perhaps even a small sketch) I can try to make such a flag.
The lion flag: I would need a picture of the desired lion and a description of the colouring or preferably samples of the desired colors red white (ok that is easy ) and blue. Personally I don't think I'd want a lion flag.

The Lancastrian (Red) Rose is shown here.

The Yorkist rose is white, but very similar design. The war of the roses was ended with defeat of the Yorkists, the house of Tudor was victorious and crowned Henry VI I think, which is why the "English" rose is always depicted as Red most probably. School was a long time ago for me.

These pictures were just grabbed off the net very quickly. It's not worth expending more effort unless other people are interested in a flag like this.

The Lion Rampant is a Scottish rather than an English national symbol.

The Plantagenets used Leopards Passant Guardant in their coat of arms.
