Nationality?

and if you had move to another country, considering all the different cultures and communities in which you could choose, which one would you join?

Australia.

Home of beer, barbies, and watching sport in the sun. What more does a man need?

If I had to move, it might be for France. But in my mind France isn't a foreign country ;) Actually, I will probably move to Greece later in my life

50% Chinese (father side) 50% Filipino (mother side). Born and grew up in the Philippines. Spent a couple years in Malaysia and Singapore. Now working here in China.

Given a choice I'd probably prefer to live in Singapore.

Me too, but China isn't that bad, is it?

You, me, Ramius75 and XIII could start a Civ clan there

Well yes, the food is good and cheap, the booze is strong, and the women are hot. But I miss Singapore's cleanliness, clockwork precise public utilities and general sense of security. Here I have to always watch my back.

There IS a Civ community here. Not big, but quite active. Unfortunately I no longer have the time to play games or socialize with them (on the internet) like before. :(

Anyway you guys are always welcome to come here for a holiday. :)

That's because there's no light - were you to be opened up, that would change. ;)

When I came to China, it was a bit further to the West (Chengdu), but it wasn't for holyday :(
Business then? How'd you like Chengdu? It's a totally different world from here. The climate, language, cuisine, political and business atmosphere...

The food spicy enough for you? :D And did your hosts try to get you drunk every night?

Incidentally that city is first on the Indian Governments-To-Nuke List.

I consider myself English and if I had the choice I would move to Spain. Their climate is so much nicer than ours, I love the culture and the people are really friendly. Viva Espana.

Yes business, my company is trying to equip the Air Traffic Management Bureau with our software, but it's very long. Chengdu was relatively nice, and I noticed a lot of changes between my two stays (a lot more shopping streets). For the climate, I don't know, I couldn't really see the sun because of pollution. For the language, well, almost no one speak English, and even fewer French... And as my Chinese is quite limited, well, bargaining was funny.

I have a funny anecdote BTW. At the Civil Aviation Hotel were I was a guest, I saw that I could have internet access. So I went to the main desk and asked for it in my best English. The guy there look at me with a blank expression, and say "OK, go back to your room, I do it". So I go back, and wait, and wait... Nothing.
I go gack to the desk, and ask again. Suddenly, I see a light of understanding in his eyes! He ask me to go back to my room, he will send someone. Just 5 minutes later I was back, a knock on the door : a woman in charge of cleaning the room enters.... and explain to me very patiently (in Chinese) how to turn on the hot water.
I quite asking then....
And I'm sure when she climb down she told the guy at the reception "this westerners are very stupid, they don't even know how to get hot water!"

The food is really spicy, but I've discovered drinking a lof of tea helps a lot.
They didn't try to have me drunk every night, there was only one official dinner (me alone with 12 Chinese)... But they didn't succeed. I said I was on medication (that was true) and my doctor has strictly forbidden mixing it with alcohol (that was not so true). So they get drunk themselves instead

Chengdu is before everything the Worldwide capital of spicy food.

By the way, I do like Sichuanese pepper.

First off what nationality do you consider yourself, and if you had move to another country, considering all the different cultures and communities in which you could choose, which one would you join?
I'm Greek. If I absolutely had to move to another country, I'd probably go to France(as a second choice, maybe Germany or Austria).

I'm dual nationality British-French.
I was Born in Devon.
My heritage is Londonian/Isere.
I speak French and English both fluently, and consider myself as English as John Bull, and as French as Marianne.
I don't hold a passport (partly because of economic reasons; partly due to pride), and instead hold a French ID card.
I'm probably gonna vote in England (but refuse English nationality).

I'm swede and my parents and grand parents were as well. No foreign ancestry what I've heard of but can't rule it out completely. I consider myself swede and have no regional feelings.

I'd go to Copenhagen if opportunity and circumstances are right, such a nice city  .

This is the thread that never ends
It just goes on and on my freinds...

Born in England.

My dad is English, with Danish ancestory, he married a Swede, and has my two sisters with her.

My mum is Scottish, and she married an Englishman, and had my two brothers.

Then my parents married (a week before I was born ;)), had me, and then years later had my little sister.

:).
