Native Warrior (Flavour Unit)

Chugginator -- Thanks! I made the fix you suggested. I still can't believe I made that mistake after being shown what to do. All good now. What a great looking unit! :goodjob:

Sepamu92 -- Thanks for your explanation (even though I managed to mess them up). The bit about the FX.nif file explains why I've been failing so many times to incorporate other unit designs in the past. That was a big one for me.

Can you make a version of this carrying a club instead of a macana? Just a small request.

No problem.. I didn't know those aztec weapons were called that either, cool name.

Edit : Uploaded a new version which includes the native warrior wielding a club. It includes a new nif file and an additional texture so just make sure all the files you're using are in the same folder and using the new nif.

Thankyou so much I'll inform the total realism team that they can finally use this unit in their mod. Awesome Awesome unit here....one of the best I've seen here. Where is the download of the new club wielding one btw?

It's the same download... I just updated it to include a club version :)

>>Chigginator -- any chance you might come up with the FX.nif file for this unit?

The nif file included is the FX version. If you look at the xml I posted before you can see that the <NIF> and the <SHADERNIF> both point towards the one file. I don't think it would work if it wasn't an FX version (or at least the specularity on the shield and wrists wouldn't work)

Thanks. The reason why I asked is that the animation seems to be frozen for this unit.

The animation I included is exactly the same as the praetorians, except it was exported with the new unit.

Maybe you weren't watching long enough for the unit to use the fidget animation? ... anyway, compare it with the praetorian (incidentally they don't move much either  )

(Praetorian? What Praetorian?)

I watched that axeman enough already. It stands/moves with its arms & legs stretched out, just as shown on your screen shot. There was no animation.

Don't worry... I was talking about the animations I used in the max file.

Lost you...

I thought you said it was working before? As long as you use the XML I posted for you and the Native_Warrior folder is placed in your mods Unit folder, it will work perfectly.

You said "Maybe you weren't watching long enough for the unit to use the fidget animation?" I responded "I watched that axeman enough already." Huh back to you. ;)

The unit "functions" in that it looks like your screenshot and can be played (it moves, it attacks), but it does not seem to have any animation. It moves and attacks with its arms and legs stretched out, as shown on the screenshot, like a cardboard cutout. Does this make more sense?

Sorry I assumed that it was working but you were annoyed because it doesn't actually move that much in the proper animation. I didn't realise that it was completely without animations. ;)

The screenshot was just taken from Nif Viewer, it's not supposed to look like that ingame. The problem you are having is that you either don't have all the files in the Native_Warrior folder (like the "native_warrior.kfm") or you have renamed some of the files. The XML should be right now. I can't think of anything else..

OK. The kfm file was missing from the unit's folder. No idea why since I didn't touch anything in there. I just downloaded a new copy and dumped the old one just in case. It's working fine now. Thanks!!

Very strange... good that it's working though.

Great looking unit Chug, I voted you 5 stars!

Hey Chugg would this unit be suitable for an Axeman replacement? Niknaks is going to finish my abandoned Toltec civ and we agreeded that the Atlantes Warrior will be the UU. And this unit suits the bill nicely.

Wouldn't he need an axe? But otherwise, I think so :)

Any idea when you will release the dwarf model?

When I get around to fixing the bugs with them and finishing the others in the set :yumyum: Sorry for taking so long...
