Natives - How to ask for money?

With cannons. Burn a Village, get a Treasure.
Or by visiting the villages with a scout and talking with the chief (once per village).
Or how about giving them something in return ? ;) If you visit a village with a wagon or ship you can sell the goods.

^^^ Yes, they're always keen on getting guns and horses, no matter what their desired goods indicates. If they actually desire guns, horses or trade goods then they pay even more for them!
What I don't care for is that you can't (afaik) find out how much money they have until you actually start the trade.

Their money comes from trade too. All those guys hopping around trade with other tribes. Either that or they just generate some every turn, idk for sure.
You can't ask them for money at all, only trade with them.

it also turns out each TRIBE only has a fixed amount of money at the start of the game that does not go up unless you buy some furs or other goods from them (at a huge profit to yourself)

once that initial tribal money is exhausted and you do not need to train any more experts in that tribe's settlements, they are financially "worthless" to you except possibly to bribe to fight the REF on your behalf (a strategy apparently more effective in the 1994 version of Col)

I have created a mini mod that allows the natives to build basic colonial buildings. see link in my sig. (it would be best used as an addon to whatever mod you want to play)

it remains to be seen if the AI can figure out how to sell anything to improve the tribe's finances. if so, the natives will remain useful alot longer
