I'm really not sure JC is going for us anymore, he seems to be building Galleys from one our the cities on our island... :crazyeye: if he's after us.

I built 2 more workers... improvement was just going too slow for my linking on gem island. We should be able to start GT pretty soon, as a result I did not whip Parthenon city to build up population.

Queued a Uni in capital, it's worth quite a few beakers but we'd get better H:b conversion with a Monastery... so probably keep building Berzerkers to kill someone.

I'd also switch fantopoly to making missionaries to spread our blocking votes.
 
good trading... I wouldn't go for feudalism and construct while we can delay them, I would rather sell small techs for cash right now to delay building up WFYABTA. We will need to trade for quite some time still I guess. Otherwise those trades look decents (ie if u want feud and construct. this looks like the way to do them).

liberalism: I would take the biggest ie take astro and tech (yeah it's lame isn't it?) nationalism (no one with CS so we have time).

Then on to chemistry.


IMO Oxford is a priority (after Globe). Even if the monastary has a better B:H ratio right now, he won't unlock OU :mischief: So uni for me in the cap if we aren't about to declare or be declared on. Grabbing those barb cites will be good as well to boost our trade routes network!


edit: if JC goes for Fred: this would be ideal time to dogpile and take the Mausoleum before finishing the Taj. unlikely but to keep in mind.

I didn't want to waste a bunch of food by whipping the granary right away, seeing as we have to borrow the fish to grow.

If we want beaker multipliers, I'd go for the Monastery first. * Home * will be fast enough to complete its University well before any of the other cities regardless of not starting it right away.

I think the rest makes sense, we don't absolutely need Construction right away and certainly not Feuda.

We should prolly raze Apache and resettle the other island with fish (more production this way).

War: when do we go on rampage mode? Frigates seem needed to dominate the sea (and I can't wait to decimate them with airships :love:), but maybe berseks/trebs should be good enough for the first AI. I guess the globe will be ready by then though not sure about the HE. I wouldn't build barracks in our islands for now, they are likely to whip boats later on anyway. Gold if no science/prod multipliers imo.

workers: road and sell additional ivories! (ie that one camp south should have been made after the road :p ;))
 
If it is up to us, I don't mind waiting to war until we have Frigates, that way we can BOTH knock down walls, and use our UU in the same turn for what it is for. We could sink like 15 boats in one turn from Julius that way :P

I would cancel the granary in Fantopoly and just use the hammers to get one missionary a turn...

Getting out oxford is a long.. long time way. Probably best to whip them in enemy cities.

I think it's best to build the globe regularly THEN whip it down to size 6 ;) (screw uni there, better whip them in conquiered cities as u said)
 
Ok I am happy to do the deal with Izzy, need gold to pay for maps, etc. Also, AI's tend to often not trade to you down the road when you plan on it, making you wish you took advantage of the feudalism deal when it was available (yes, I know we don't really NEED feudalism right now...)

So.. I tech up Liberalism, but I'll have to pause it on the last turn to get Optics & compass (maybe trade for it?).

Also, a lot can happen soon. If a war breaks out and I am asked to dogpile, should I do a FAKE-WAR against other nations, or play it safe and refuse if asked. And what if I am asked to switch to a religion, does it matter or should I stay neutral...
 
What really pains me, is if only we had a level 4 unit, we could whip the hero epic with our marble bonus, and then get another 100% whipping bonus on each unit there-after if it's military.

No way a university...

whip Berserkers into Globe... maybe a late whip to save some turns.

I like the idea of farming a lvl 4 unit off the barb Axes. This would really help with cranking out units fast.

I'd also prefer to wait for Frigates, this way we don't even have to care about Construction for a while.

Anyhow, things went very badly..

We got DoWed first upon by Gilga who landed right into Parthenon city. There was a small chance I could have re-captured it back, but then stupid Julius also hits us from the capital side, so I had to wall up the capital.

Spent the entire turn-set stuck defending and no one wants to even talk to us at this point. We also lost another city off in the east to Julius who decided to SNIPE one which was un-defended when he Dogpiled us.

So... there is some good news in this though. That's only what happened in the ALTERNATE UNIVERSE. In the REAL universe that Obsolete plays, Gilga instead DoWed on Willem, and stupid Julius is STILL busy on weehorn. Sorry if I gave you a hart-attack just now, haha!

Anyhow, we did get some negative diplo because of some tech trades I did (with just 2 cities Izzy broke our monopoly on CS in like 2 turns). I didn't get a message of a great person pop, so what exactly happened there? Insane bonuses?

And I refused the AI's to make me cancel borders with everyone else. We have the lighthouse for a REASON. Don't lose trade routes please.

Also, since we will have a golden age soon with the Taj, it seems at this point we should flip into the AP religion to double our voting power, and also I started to trade for stone and work on the UoS this turn (will take 5 total). We are going to have the AP buildings in all cities, so lets get it now.

I spread around Hindu a little, and upgraded a trireme in order to scout out the navigation bonus. That American leader is being so stupid, they might as well call him Bush. He's not even circumnavigating, and I just checked world map again. Giving him too many free 5 gold coins for useless maps it seems.

I settled one more GE into the capital BTW.

Also, we can whip the Globe this turn for half our pop, or we can continue with the over-flow deal. I haven't even done a rough estimate on the math yet, so you guys can figure that one out...

P.S. One berserker has been waiting to heal for many turns, we are one attack left from Level 4.... Please wait until he's fully healed, for some reason we almost lost him earlier on.

Also, our 2 workers near capital were busy doing improvements so I didn't get time to build a fort or two for our other happy resources south of capital (yeah, I feel guilty), but we will (most likely) settle a city there anyway.... just depends on WTH Julius is up too.


Oh yeah, and the worst catastrophe is... I FORGOT AGAIN to build cottages!!! OMG, we are so dead now... Maybe we should recruit one of the many self-proclaimed experts from the 'General' area of the forum and just maybe they can bail us out of this mess. But we'd need a miracle now...

I did not re-negotiate resource deals because I happen to have a habbit where the AI suddenly refuses to re-negotiate when I cancel stuff.

Anyhow, after the Globe is done, keep putting the OF into the Hero Epic. Just remember our berserker is 1 battle short right now of unlocking it.

I would forget about settling any other spots for the next 20 turns.

Alright, Nationalism is done, what to research now to get to frigates the fastest may take some thinking...

Anyhow, will take the capital 6 turns to build the Taj from start to finish. Also we poped a priest right this turn, but I didn't settle him yet, just incase someone had some bright ideas on doing something fancy.... as long as it's not a bulb of theology of course :P

As soon as Taj is in, switch to Hindu or our UoS will be wasted hammers.

I guess we may want to trade for theology along the way so at the end of our GA we switch to Theo?

Our globe can be built manually this turn, but instead whip the monastery next turn, put OF into Globe, and then put the double-of into the Hero Epic. Don't forget to whip the harbor in that city at one point. We don't have to whip just units...

I razed Apache.. don't want to pay colonial maintenance, and we can settle down south to grab the sea-source still.

We have a berserker at level 4, please leave him on bodyguard, while you train the other berserker up to level 4 against the other barb city on the copper. (I guess raze that one too).

There are islands elsewhere on the map we can still grab, as can be seen. Also, make sure you buy America's world map EVERY TURN. Costs 5 gold, just don't ever give him YOUR map. He is scouting West, we are scouting East now. It's very close to the meet point. Just watch out our carval got attacked by barbs, so try to keep it either in ocean tiles, or 1 off from the shallow waters of the SHORE so we don't get another barb galley hitting us, or we are sunk.

I opened borders with Frederik when he asked. I don't care if anyone gets mad at us now, I want the extra routes.
