If no one does, we can GAMBLE on putting a few turns into alphabet (after aesthetics is in) and then trade it to Issy. She doesn`t appear to have marble nor be industrious... so if she goes for it.... great... that`s one settler less for her (or more) for a little bit of gold :P

Then we trade Monarchy around (if we still can), or keep trading aesthetics. I`m fine at this point on trading wonder techs since I think it`s pretty rare we are going to lose, especially since we got the mids no one is going to be able to GE rush on us.

P.S. Too bad egypt founded their capital on a hill (wink).
 
BTW, Izzy is building the S-Pay, I am 99.9% sure of it. She`s only got 2 cities so must be building something big. Also she has gold in her cross which puts her into shiny-mode. And on top of this, she refuses to trade med.

I don`t see anything else you can draw from that conclusion... I just wish she was building it without the gold :P

So.... if we attack Izzy first, we won`t have to trade for Theology (wink).
 
On second thought, don`t trade Aesthetics or Literature to the Chinese if you can prevent it. Looking at that ToA build, he may very well have marble.

I stopped because JC just went WHEOOHRN in the interturn. We might want to re-evaluate our builds.

Home's library should be in one turn before lit or may be two. So we should be able to whip a second settler to overflow in the great library. We wanna do that otherwise the khmers will screw us the dye site. We might want to recall the northern galley to that mean (explored all it could in the east already).
A barb city popped in the eastern island but nothing we could have prevented with one warrior. I placed it to prevent the creation of barb cities near gems/horses.

Traded for alpha against monarchy as JC had it and backfilled IW with monarchy the same turn with khmers. I had hoped they got a religion (in which case I would have gifted him mono) but no such luck.

And JC founded chritianism and went with it.

There is a settler/worker pair in the southern galley (built before the 3 pop settler whip in Home) which should be able to settle horses next turn.

opened borders with fred to keep on exploring west. No diplo penalty yet. Be ready to cancel this.

Working the plain hill rather than food in parthenon city to get the full 150% bonus (worker in place for a chop next turn).

Sorry, didn't get to read the posts before playing, but I think the trades I made are in line with what you posted (trade around monarchy, keep aesthetics line...)

Note that Saladin got his hands on aesthetics unfortunatly...

edit: I forget to say that there is a galley pre built in Parthenon city (19 hammers over 50 to be 2 pop whipped into something)
edit2: also forgot to say: we met Lincoln (though you guessed that with the screenies :p)
 
Some more thoughts:

We prolly want to hook up the iron sooner than later (2 tile roaded toward it). We can also settle on the eastern iron in case we are double teamed in the incoming turns (instead of going for horses).
We can still whip walls and archers in case it gets ugly so I hope we won't have to do that.

If we aren't dowed:

-> settle dyes/stone with 3rd settler
-> then double sea food/iron south of Izzy. If we do that, she will stay at two cities (unless she goes for some crappy overlapping cities in her homeland). She will be a soft target later on.

To sum up, I would actually like to be dowed by JC, so we raze his useless city and take the pig one. Make it easier to unlock HE (no diplo malus) also. Will spice up the game a bit too. I hope Sury goes for Lincoln or Fred though. He is easier to raise at friendly status.

I don`t think I`ve ever seen where opening borders with an AI causes a diplo-hit...

Anyhow, oh boy I`m going to have to do some thoughts on this... let me take a look for a bit.

I didn't open borders with Fred because I didn't want to get asked to cancel deals with him and have him ignore us for 5,000 years.

Well good news is I THINK Julius is planning a war vs the Americans. Bad news is Surry doesn`t know the Americans yet, so its`more likely the idiot is trying to DoW on us.

I fear I have to at least stop the parthenon to put 1 worker-turn into an archer for an emergency whip later, but one archer isn`t really going to cut it at this point... grrrrr.

I think we maybe should just abort parthenon right now to play it safe... and quickly I can try to get a scout over there to see where his SoD is and what`he`s up to, etc. We can MAYBE resume later...

Things are getting problematic here...

Our capital will take just under 8 turns to complete the Library, but then we want to go straight to the NE as well...

I think we abort the parthenon until we see what Surry is up to.... We can not be sure who he`s been building an attack force against, but we must assume now it is us...
 
Sury could be after Fred too. He has been settling toward him.

I think we should go the safe path and abort the Parthenon to get some military up. Or prepare emergency whip at the very least like you said. Gold from parthenon partial build would still be good.
The cap with lib and NE should pumping out specialists quickly enough anyway.

With the full SE game here, gold is not worth very much.

I`ll start getting that city ready for military production. If it turns out we are safe, I can also send the swords to capture the barb city in the East... even hopefully train up to level 4 (keep fingers crossed).

Also, maybe we dow pre-lib against Julius. Everyone is going to hate him, so I don`t mind capturing his GOOD city. Let`s let him keep his bad one so we can steal stuff from it. What do you think...

P.S. Stupid Izzy is still building the s-paya....

She has currently only 2 cities, and no wonders, haha!
 
Yeah I like the stealing idea. Though EP multipliers are a long way off (unless we go for a castle :D)

edit: gold: I guess we won't stay at 2 cities too long. 6 would be cool :lol: With the incoming units, we will be doing deficit research quite fast I think. (though there are a couple of holy cities nearby :mischief:)
 
Ok still not done TGL yet, and Saladin + Romans are chasing it right behind us (suddenly Roman`s tech has jumped very fast, I don`t understand how).

I need to take a pause right now because I just finished Drama (for 20% towards Music). Problem is we need Math now to continue on to Music. But everyone else is trying to build the Hanging Gardens so wont`trade (or what else are they refusing to trade it for...)

Do we trade for Med + 50 gold to Izzy so we can research Philo in the meantime, and wait for someone to finish building the Gardens, or do we self-over research math right now anyway.

Up to you guys...

Some more thoughts... when the time comes, I guess it`s also worth it to capture the crappy city from the Romans as well. That way we can get a hundred gold + some experience and then have the nerve to LIBERATE the city back next turn :P
 
Haha loving the plan for that city actually: steal conquier liberate.

I am for teching philo while waiting for math. Did you tryed to ask kindly meditation to Sal? I would be reluctnat to trade to avoid WFYABTA but if Sury goes for someone else, we might be able to get to friendly in which case we won't ever care about this so... but try to ask first!

edit: yeah he had a stack like that during my set too... Sally's "just in case" stack :rolleyes:
 
Well I dont`know anymore... I`ve been burned in the past when it takes the AIs a really long time to finish HG... (No industrious, no stone, etc...)

The thing is... I really don`t want to come in 2n`d place to Music, or the big GA pay-off is f*cked right there.

Earlier I gifted Org to Surry the second he switched into a religion, but he hasn`t switched into Org yet. We did get +2 so he is PLEASED at the moment. I may just beg Saladin for Med in the meantime to prevent a bribe against us in the next 10 turns to be safe...

Mmmm, God damnit, I hate over-teching techs, but for insurance sake... I am leaning towards Math to be safe... also we JUST MAY use it on the last forest near parthenon for the race (as soon as our iron mine is hooked up). Should give us 150 with math. I already got in 111 from doing db whips on stuff and putting OF into the parthenon. I want to keep doing the 1-turn build-db-whip-trick in that style to keep dumping hammers until it`s built.
