I have recently download and installed C2C. How do the barbarians, Neandathals and animals spawn? I have found that they'll spawn anywhere, even in areas that I am already fog-busting. Why could this be?

It is intended that npcs spawn in visible areas, though it may be at lower rates. Features impact rates too; Neanderthals are more likely to spawn near caves, for instance.

Nothing should spawn in owned territory though if you have "animals stay out" option on, otherwise only animals can spawn in owned tiles.

C2C very much has a different spawn engine than vanilla and can indeed spawn in revealed, even watched, territory. Though not as likely where you have established some improvements on those tiles and such and that can restrict some spawns.

Ok. Thanks. Also, I have been told conflicting info. as to how to be able to train my own neandathal units. What are the requirements?

You need either to start as the neanderthal civ, or build the neanderthal culture (a wonder) which has some terrain requirements; look in the pedia to find the exact ones.

Best place to ask quick questions is probably in the discord, see my signature; you'll get faster answers there.

Can they (especially Barbarians, Neanderthals and aggressive animals) spawn even if you have enough Spots to immediately un-stealth them in that tile ?

Yes, vision in general doesn't prevent spawn anymore. I had a case where each time I moved my unit away from caves barbarians spawned there immediately.

Yes, same thing. I organized a very nice fog-bust defense and noticed that it did very little to defend. A little bit annoying.

A little bit annoying.

Not really, barbarians are mind bogglingly stupid, the mod's AI for them is kinda poor due to all the features being too complex for them to understand (their AI was intended for the base game). So they aren't even a threat in the Prehistoric, just mildly annoying, preferring instead to build and spawn camp inside of cities during the Ancient.

Never got to Classical so I'm not sure if they take off the kid gloves then.
