Well now that we can untie religions to specific techs, and essentially have "Religion Spawn" tied to a tech... perhaps we can add religions and still maintain the "optimal number of seven" that Firaxis figured.

This would solve a few things: allow many leaders to have a favorite civ, as they simply (at the moment) do not have a religion they followed in the game.

Increased variety in the game, even if at a somewhat cosmetic level, but could make the "religion rush" a little more interesting.

Could spice up diplomacy due to the AI "competing" to found favorite religions.

A few concerns:
a few religions may be bland or generic in nature feel.
Religion screen shows all religions even before founded, mod this to religions founded or (better) known to be founded?
Religious buildings: untie them/some to specific religions? Have a few generic ones? How will this impact city display, etc.
Holy sites: A few might be simply "Holy Shrine" for lack of better idea or "Great (religion) Church/Forum/whatever"

A few possible choices:
A generic pantheon religion representing religions that were dedicated to tying deities to specific concepts (IE War, love, fertility, the sun)

The sikh faith.

Shinto

Zoroastrian

A "Great spirit" religion... might be somewhat generic or something similar

Perhaps a religion focusing more on elemental aspects and/or an Earth-based faith (be it Wicca or something else).

Needs: At the very minimum new icons for city view or the button for missionaries to spread. Perhaps recycling some buildings.

What else do have guys think? Other mod concerns? Other ideas for religion that might mind may have missed both real world and generic?
