I just got the cheap (10.00 buckss at Wal Mart) Civ game to start with, and I can't get it to install. It ask for the product code and there isn't one on the packaging, or the disk. I get a message that I can play 25 times before I have to enter the code, but it won't let me play. It installs and then thats as far as it goes. If anyone can help with this problem, I'd appreciate it.

That is something else - I do not recall Civilization III requiring a product code - but if it does it should be in the package - if not: return it.
As for it not playing at all - maybe someone in the Civ III tech support section knows something:

Moderator Action: moved to Civ3 Tech Support

There is no "Product Code", "Serial Number", "Access Code", or anything of that sort needed to install or play Civ3. I can't speak for CivCity Rome, as I've never played/bought it.

I suppose this might be a "re-packaging" by somebody, but I can't believe they would change the installation procedure.

In any case, if it requires a "Product Code", that code has to be on/in the box somewhere, or else you need to return it.

I've seen it, but only recently. If it had been complete I might have picked it up, but I wasn't going to get it for Gold and CivCity:Rome.

All I can think of is maybe they used an online image from a site that lets you download a demo of a game, then you have to pay the publisher for the code.

I bought the exact game from walmart, although i have a different problem.
It wouldn't install automatically so I had to do it manually from the folder itself to get them both installed. Then when I try to run civcity rome it says it is missing some file to work properly and when I try to run civ3gold it says there's no cd in the drive when there really is. I've tried several different methods found on other threads but nothing's worked.
