In the begining this thread was more about what a great city I founded. It have great future for commerce, production and even for both regardless the rout I choose.
I have great future citys now and want to know what the more experienced players have to say about current situation, future citys and future teching.

I have been playing around on monarch before and wanted to test emperor. With this start it whod be a shame if I don't get a win and want advice so I can stick to emperor in the future.

Many belive this thread is about city Boston. I don't blame them as this was my first intention but now things have changed and that city is now just one part that I want advice and critique about.

Washington
the settler started 1W moved him 1E to be riverside instead of lake side. I now have more flat squares for cottages, got a desert square in the trade but i belive it's worth it in the long run. Washington will be a science city.

New York
my first settled city, mostly becous of the gold. It get cow and rice in BFC and will be a great production city after IW and steampower. the horses poped after AH and was a nice surpise.

Boston
This thread was about Boston in the begining and have got some nice advice howe to deal with boston.
as commerce this city will be able to work 9 grasland cottages, 6 plain cottages, one plain windmill and 2 plantations (one grasland silk 2:food: 5:commerce: and one grasland spice 3:food: 4:commerce: ) as production this city will run 9 grasland and 6 plain watermils two plantations and one windmill plain without state property. with stateproberty the same amount but the hill will be replaced with a mine.

I have never used state property and have always cottege up citys with alot of riverside titles before. I dont know if I will go that rout yet as this look like an awsome science city and early have decent amount of :hammers:and late a great amount (11 :hammers: before levee, 32 :hammers: after levee and replaceable parts.) after democracy this city could have an amount of 47 base :hammers: with forge and factory the amount will increase making it a science and production powerhouse.

when I look at the base hammers the science city is proucing the production city choice look tempting aswell when 3 * 9 + 4 * 6 + 4 + 19 = 74 base :hammers:

Philadelphia
I have planed philadelphia to be an early science and mid late production city the floodplains is nice to cottage also have wheet in BFC so food will never be a problem.

Questions!

1. How is my reserch doing (my first emperor game)
2. What to reserch next. I'm planing to reserch IW directly after writing. polly and beeline literature for GLib is could also be a plan but have no metals yet so it is a bit risky.
3. Future citys. you can see my future city plans on the map with question marks.
4. Any outher advice is welcome.

I will ad my save at the bottom of the page. my mother tongue is swedish so please have patience with my spelled english.

One thing first I will atch the save I realy want some advice from the hardcore Emperor + players on what to do. I have 2,5 commerce citys and 1,5 production citys. could someone give me some advice and critique about my current city placement, future citys and resech prioritys. I'm realy happy about the start so far but the maintence is killing me.

the maintence is killing me.

....No it's not killing you. You are getting positive cash flow while running 50% science. Usually at this point of the game I've RExed so hard I'm barely running 10-20% science - and after writing is in I do an economical miracle.

i have just put some cottages up, was in 40 science not long before. i've come to understand that rexing to hard before writing and pottery is not good. I have tryd to focus on many workers instead. have built four and stolen one (settler) from carthage

I would cottage it up. Once I got steam power and communism i'd replace every riverside town with a watermill, build a levee, and stick my ironworks there. It'll be a ridiculous production city, and it'll even have decent commerce once you get electricity.
