After two months of playing I am trying emperor for the first time. I went up to regent two weeks winning 4 straight games then going to monarch and winning again so I decided to go up to emperor. I win most of my games with the spaceship or UN (huge maps). I set a standard pangaea 60% water with restless barbs everything else set to random. I end up as the Koreans and think everything is going smoothly. I find dyes, gems, and cattle and I think I am set when my warrior discovers coast to the south and I see coast to the north...a peninsula:confused:.

I get exited until it hits 3000 BC and no contact then 2000 then 1000. I then find out I am on a island:mad: Noooooo!! I said pangaea!! I see the Japanese and meet them around 10 AD...I buy the wheel:( Over the next 600 years I meet and buy my way up still in the aincient era. I don't know what to do now I have no iron so I trade some from Portugal who is at war with Japan which I didn't know. I will post a save and the screen. It is a conqusts save the screen is being a ****

Quite a few areas that need changing:

1. Never, ever, ever, ever make Wealth in your capital or core cities. You should be building something useful there.

2. You only have 4 workers, that's why your land is so poorly developed. You've got many of the best bonus resources (cows), yet they are not completely developed. You should have at least 1 worker per city, probably 1.5 since you are non-industrious.

3. Quit building temples. Learn to use your luxury slider.

4. You have entertainers where you don't need them. You only need to equal numbers of happy and unhappy people in order to prevent riots. You've got too much happiness. Get those entertainers back working tiles.

5. Build more galleys to explore.

6. You have 14 spearmen and only 1 archer, these numbers should be reversed. Build offensive units, not defensive.

7. Even if you build a road to that horse, it's outside your borders and won't do you any good (unless you biuld a colonly). You should have built a road to the horses near Manpo instead.

8. City placement probably should have been CxxC to maximize production.

Don't give up on this game, it'll probably be the best learning experience you've had so far.:)

Oh, now I remember :D

I don't use it anymore really, and even when I do build hospitals I'd just set some cities to growth phase and irrigate everything. When they reach the optimum pop I just mine everything back.

Or even set a good or two city to 1-turn worker factory by similar method. That way other cities can be productive while still getting a good rate of growth.

Ok I will explain myself.

1.I just got out of anarchy and was trying to reorganise my civ and prior to getting the republic I had to buy a lot of techs so I needed a lot of cash.

2. I know my worker count was low but I lost 6 workers 4 to barbarians and 2 to a volcanic eruption (and my town). I was going to build some more when I irrigated my cows.

3. What is wrong with temples? I have never had to use the luxury slider before:p oh by the way I am not going to build temples in all those cities I was just filling up the production box while I chose something.

4. I didn't know I still had entertainers  I haven't swiched anyone to an entertainer in over 3000 years:lol:

5. I didn't think I needed galleys on a pangaea I have galley and my other was sunk by barbs.

6. My army took a beating from the barbs I even lost the fortified spearmen vet defend my capital. I think I should have set the barbs on roaming not restless.

7. Yeah I know but they were in the area I thinking ahead.

8. I ussally play huge maps and never needed to place them that close, even the capital?

I taught myself how to play so I appreciate your input thanks guys:D
