If you really want to hang out in Paris for a few days, beside the obvious places such as the Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum and Notre Dame there are also other nicep place to visit or just looking at the architecture. La conciergerie (Oldest France's Jail where Marie Antoinette was held), Les Invalides (the tomb of Napoléon is worth a visit, it does have a very weird atmopshere), Le Panthéon and of course L'Arc de Triomphe.

Also i'm not sure if you are into it, but more and more old cemiteries in Paris are becoming "open door" museum. Quite a trip if you ask me. Cimetière du Pére Lachaise, de Monmartre are good examples. I'd say, its worth to visit one of them at least.

About witnessing the true Paris, then you should visit "les vieux quartiers" such as Le Quartier Saint-Michel, with the Boulevard Saint-Germain at its center. Quite a nice place.

You said you were into landscape, well then i would suggest Britanny (Bretagne) but probably impossible as you are heading the oposite direction, east :).

To add to what was listed for Paris :
- Avenue des Champs-Elysées, of course ! :) The most beautiful street in the world (at least, what the French say), where we could have celebrated the WC, but not...
- Montmartre !! :goodjob: The famous hill in northern Paris, where you will find many pedestrian streets full of people and restaurants, with its calm atmosphere above the rest of the city, and the Basilique du Sacré-Cœur. Also, hints of "Amélie Poulain" there of course.
- Place du Trocadéro : in front of the Eiffel Tower, to have a nice view. And behind the tower, you'll find the Champs de Mars.
- If you're into "Amélie Poulain", then head for the Canal Saint-Martin in the north-east.
- Around Notre-Dame : Ile de la Cité and Ile Saint-Louis. To enjoy a little walk near the Seine...
- And don't forget to visit the department of Antiquity at the Louvre !!! ;)

I'm far from knowing all Paris, but I know there's enough to enjoy for a few days.

I'm in Paris but we'll be out for the summer vacation.
Kryszcztov gave a good guide, so much to see.
North of Paris : Chantilly castle, Senlis (Medieval Royal city), Southern Picardie of course :). In the North, Lille is Nice.

Thank you all! nice tips.... When I get a chance I'll pm Marla... who knows. I might get to meet the maker of the most famous world map ;)
