Hi all.

Recently, my grandmother's been sick, and can no longer take care of my uncle. He was injured in a car crash at the age of 7 and had much brain damage. He can only fully functionally use one hand.

I try playing games with him that are two-player games so that I can go VERY easy on him. However, sometimes I can't play with him, but he still wants to play.

I'm looking for a game that can be VERY easy, even if you're not actually completing the game. Something that requires just use of an analog stick (we have a Gamecube and a PC with a USB gamepad controller). I'm trying out a Nascar game just so he can drive around and have fun crashing the car :P

Any other ideas for games the pretty much just require using the joystick?

Flight/Space games spring to mind, even though i have heard of people playing shooter with a joystick.
Is there no way for him to use a mouse? That would make so many more games available.

Thanks for responding.

No, a mouse isn't an option. He can really only function with one idea at a time, either it being pushing the joystick, or pressing a button, but not both. Typically, if a menu pops up where he has to press the button, he doesn't know that he has to do so, so it's best if menus don't "pop up" often and he can just continue pressing the joystick for a long duration and the game keeps going. I've had him riding around on a horse in Harvest Moon for awhile, but that quickly gets boring.

Then i would look out for a space game, which allows easy modification of the ships' speed. With speed adjusted to a level he is comfortable with (and maybe godmode activated) long periods of uninterupted play should be possible.

It probably would be possible to set up the controls for him in such a manner, that he just has to move the joystick in the direction he wishes to travel and push the button to shoot.

Freelancer might fight that bill, but i am not 100% sure about the modability.

Mario Strikers is fun, 2 players, and has no menus whatsoever. I play this with my first grader brother. He plays well in it even though he just buttom mashes. Of course you have to use the analog and the buttons at the same time. What's good is that you can get by just using 1 button.

Perhaps Animal Crossing on the Gamecube. Mostly walking around, and by pressing buttons you do accomplish stuff. Obviously to us, without the understanding of the more in depth parts of the game it'd be boring, but to him, it'd probably be quite fun!

And perhaps Super Smash Bros. Melee. Just pressing buttons can get you through the game, as all you have to do is fight up to three other enemies on a stage.

Great suggestions here. I would also try maybe a Mario Kart game. If you want to go really simple, they have 3-D pacman games and such also.

Thanks for the suggestions all. We've been having some fun recently with Mario Baseball and Mario Strikers. We're also planning on Super Smash Bros., since I remember having some success with Mortal Kombat on the SNES years ago.

Thanks again!
