Hi guys,
In my Civ4 BTS save history I have probably 10 games minimum that I have played up until the point of 1600AD (on normal speed) or so then got bored of. Basically as soon as gunpowder hits I get extremely disinterested and opt out no matter how good/bad a position I'm in. I really love the early game where everything counts that little bit more, while I don't enjoy being landlocked as it were whereby conquering is the only real way to keep expanding. I don't find the warring much fun as you just smash stacks against each other, there's no way to use tactical brilliance if you haven't prepared well enough - you're gonna get stomped or have to stop after a couple cities. IMHO of course.
For all these reasons I decided to boot up a new game on marathon and see how that went.
Anyway I'm playing these settings:
Fractal
Marathon
Noble
Boudica
Huts & Events
I started with ok land - plenty of food in capitol but not much place to expand to. So what I did was I teched ahead and traded iron working with someone, accidentally settled a city on said Iron and then attacked Gilgamesh who had a good capitol with the great lighthouse. I've taken all but one of his 4 cities (no idea where the last city possibly could be) and now have 7.
My question is: What would you guys do from here? I think I'm in a pretty good position to win with the Persians a stone throw from me to conquer/destroy next. Shaka is quite strong and nearly wiped out Zara until I bribed him off with Alpha.
I really need to get my research slider up, because of warring I built around 15 Gallic Warriors out of my 4 cities which slowed me down a bit. Saying that I got a challenge to build 8, which I completed and now they all get City Raider 1 automatically. Lovely.
Anyway, any opinions would be great! Thanks guys
