Okay, I am not a computer guy. I have absolutely no skills. I wanted to buy a game, insert the CD and play. Unfortunately I cannot; the game consistently crashes. I have tried e-mailing 2K support and have gotten no help. I really could use some help. Here is my situation. I am running the game on a:
HP Pavilion Slimline s5414y PC
AMD Athlon II X2 215 Processor 2.70 GHz processor
nVidia GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 graphics card
I was told by an employee at Bestbuy that my graphics card was not powerful enough. I can run the program in regular display but it is very jerky. I can play very easily in the tile display mode. I have ordered a new graphics card.
So my problem: My game crashes at a regular spot. It is not a random crash. I have tried restarting my computer and relaunching the program. I have played 3 games and 2 of the three crash at a set time period, though the period is random for each game. Here are the game details:
-Game 1: Small - 4 Civs - Arabia
Crashes at turn ~100. Very frustrating'
-Game 2: Standard - 8 Civs - Rome
Crashes at turn 178
I have updated my graphics driver. As well, I have downloaded DirectX and ran it to look for updates. I have ordered a new graphics card, but do not have it yet. Every post on 2K suggests that games crash because of graphics limitations, but this makes no sense to me. How come I can play 177 turns fine before it crashes?
I have no tech skills or knowledge, but I would really like to play the game. Can anyone please help? It is frustrating to get to knights and no farther. Please please help
