I'm on the nvidia downloads page to download a graphics driver, but I don't know which one to choose.

My current computer is a Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop with a 60 gig hd, 256 meg ram, 1400 megahertz processor with a speed of 1.37 gigahertz, and a Nvidia GeForce FX Go5200 graphics driver.

Okay, I chose the GeForce and TNT2 for windows xp, downloaded, but when I tried to install, i got an error message! [pissed] [pissed] [pissed]

You do have WinXP, don't you?

I'm not positive, but I think that the "GeforceGO" cards can't use the standard Forceware dirvers, and since only the 7800 version of the series is listed there now, apparently they aren't supporting new drivers for older cards. Your best bet is probably to go to Dell's site and look up the latest driver they have listed.

Is there some specific reason you're needing to update the driver?

So flight simulator doesn't go blank (black screen) on me and then fail for no reason.

How do I know where on dell.com to look for driver updates?

It should be under the support section.

Is this FS9? Was it working previously or did you just install it? If you just installed it, I would be sure that you have the latest patch for it, and if that doesn't fix it do some looking to see if other people have had issues with your model laptop, or even just that particular vid card.

Yeah, its FS9. Yes, it was working previously. I was rolling down the runway taking off when the screen suddenly went black, and fs9.exe then had to shut down a few minutes later. I tried again (same place, same time), same thing happened. someone on simviation.com's forums suggested that it was probably a graphics problem, and I want to do everything I can with out having to reinstall the game.
