Need Help

ok... this may sound dumb but i am still really new to this... how do i work off shore in the water where there is food and gold... not the fish and clam areas but the ones that have the food resource on them in the water .. and i build cottages where they tell me too but then they stop workin with the caption>>(city must work to advance) or somethin like that and pretty much the cottage is just there not doin anythin... wut do i do about that???

Anyways, there's never a dumb question.

Okay, to work coast/ocean tiles, you need to research the tech Fishing. To make cottages grow into Hamlets, then Villages, then Towns, you need to enter the City Screen (double-click on the city name), then click on the tile with the cottage on it. The City has to work the tile (have the white circle over it in the City Screen) to recieve the production, commerce, and food produced by the tile. Cottages only grow if the City is working the cottaged tile.
